QUICK-Washed ISO Hash!

Just about the easiest way to get hash if you only are starting with a little bit of cannabis.
Step #1a. We start with dried and cured buds. These buds have been very gently handled while being dried/cured. These are frozen in an air-tight mason jar, broken up slightly, and then put back into the freezer again for a few hours.
Step #1b. A brand new bottle of 99% isopropyl alcohol is also left in the freezer for a few hours along with the jar of gently broken up buds. (Costs less than $2).
Step #2. Remove both the jar and isopropyl and immediately pour enough alcohol into your mason jar to cover the cannabis. Secure the lid in place. Now gently swirl the contents of the jar (don't shake) for about 10-20 seconds.
I place the mason jar on a smooth flat surface (like a kitchen counter) to swirl the jar instead of shaking it in the air.
Step #3. After the quick 10-20 second wash/rinse you must immediately filter the contents of the mason jar and collect the cleaned alcohol.
Instead of a dusty coffee filter consider trying a monofilament mesh sheet from amazon.com (only costs about $4). The pic below is a 12" x 24" mesh sheet:
Mesh with a micron size in the 15μ-35μ range will serve well. Paper coffee filters are often in the 25μ-50μ range, in case you're wondering.
I suggest securing your filter inside the mouth of a wide-mouthed mason jar with the jar's ring:
Step #4. The now filtered jar of isopropyl is closed securely with a lid and allowed to sit for a few minutes to see if any contaminants can be spotted.
You may or may not see one or two little oily-looking puddles or balls either floating on top or sticking on the bottom of your jar of isopropyl. You can use a syringe to suck these out or siphon clean ISO away from them. You may also find that you can simply pour the isopropyl away from contaminants on the bottom.
Step #5. Having gone through the two separate steps above to filter your ISO, it's time to get it into a heat-resistant dish for evaporation:
Iam using a small pyrex bowl and adding portions of the isopropyl as the level drops. You may wish to instead use a large flat baking dish. Iam choosing the small bowl here because it will also serve as the storage container so Iam able to skip any messy step involving transfering the sticky hash to a new container.
There is actually a portion of isopropyl in the dish pictured above. Though it appears totally clear in the pic there is a slight yellowish tint to the liquid.
Step #6. To speed up the evaporation process the pyrex bowl is placed inside of a baking dish with heated canola or vegetable oil. The cooking oil is heated to about 250°F on the stove top; the temp is measured with a thermometer.
The reason to use canola oil is that it gets hotter than boiling H2O and doesn't produce steam or water condensation-- alcohol is hydrophilic and can absorb moisture from the surrounding air; a low level of relative humidity facilitates the evaporation step.
Step #7 (optional). Dissolve the iso hash goo in a little bit of Everclear (190 proof ethyl alcohol) and repeat Step #6.

Step #8. Smoke some with a fellow medical marijuana patient!
This is the first, second, and third run side-by-side, each in a various stage of the evaporation process.
Above pic is some of the first run. This stuff is sticky and syrupy even after being put in the freezer for a bit. When smoked it burns to nothing, no ash.
Another shot of the hash oil while it is cold.
The ever-popular razor blade pic. Above is actually from the second wash.
The pyrex bowl is given a secure lid and stored in the 'fridge.

Above is some of the THIRD wash after I hand-pressed it for a little time.
The 3rd wash wasn't a trippy stone but is okay to smoke, probably better to save it for cooking actually. Doesn't have a nice taste like the 1st run does. Starts out powdery when scraped up, not oily like the 1st and 2nd washes (it was also only filtered through a 120 micron screen instead of a 28 micron mesh).
Here's a jar holding the filtered 2nd wash, much more yellowish than the 1st run.
....and another pic of the second wash.

I didn't bother weighing starting material. Strain is just local medical strain that Iam not sure has a name.
I hear that a syringe filter (which can be found online) can be used to further clean up an alcohol extract before evaporation. Syringe filters get down to around 1 micron and really clean up what you're working with. I haven't personally used one yet.
