Loss of activity? you mean potency? if you mean to keep them fresh then the answer is yes

I've heard people say it ruins buds you want to smoke though.
The trichs fall off pretty easily when frozen and unless you want mad keif and sub-par buds, I wouldn't put it in the freezer.

Don't store your buds in the freezer, you're better off using the fridge.
