i have decided to repost this thread hear because there is no people in the grow room design page to give feed back, hope no one minds!
im just in the middle of flowering out and selecting mothers right now for a sog perpetual setup, i was wondering if using 2 400 watt mh lamps with cool tubes would be enough power in a 4'x7,1/2' area to give me the compact growth i an looking for ,it would be nice if you can share you sog setup if you dont mind ,
thanks

Wouldn't it depend on your flowering lights? Whatcha got for that?
I wouldn't veg a SOG for very long...seems like you'd just wanna flower ASAP to keep them small. You're trading a few large plants for many smalls, yes?
-------------------- Of course it's happening inside your head.
Why should that mean it isn't real?

hey rasjeph
just interested to hear why it would depend on the flowering light , i am running a 1000 and a 600 though !
and yes i plan to flower small plants ,they will be flowered at 8 to 12 inch's like mr big balls had said ~Quote:
lampshadehelmet said: As long as you have the lights as close as possible without burning, then yes it will be plenty of light. Run temperatures on the cooler side to keep stretch lower. Taking smaller clones also helps keep your plants height optimal...I also trim taproot back on clones that are longer than the majority of others in order to keep canopy consistent.
I flower at 8-12 inches depending on strain. Basically to get the best bang for your buck you want that 8-12 inches and first 2 weeks of flowering growth to have the most nodes possible. I do not trim any lower branches.
thanks for the response ,i will have to try trimming the tap roots like you had mentioned ,sounds like a good tip,and what did you mean with the 2 weeks and tighter nodes?

gotcha !
now that you point out about the smaller cuttings ,i have noticed the tighter nodes even having them under cfl,s the clone that were taken at 3' seem to be more compact the others taken say at 5' ,and again thanks for the pointers you potentially saved me some time~

I guess because for me, its easier to visualise like that
800 is 1/2 if 1600, so I'd say yes, especially since you won't be vegging them for so long anyway.
