Camera question...

So, I've got a Kodak camera thats 12 MP. I can't take pictures on that thing worth a shit. No matter how hard I try, they come out fuzzy and blurry and shitty.
I have a Fujifilm Finepix camera thats 8 MP. For some reason, with a little finangling, I can get it to take BEAUTIFUL pictures. Like, 10x better than the 12 MP camera.
Anyone know wtf the deal with that is?
I post here, because I know some of you guys get mad nice bud shots (Harry, Slothie) and was hoping maybe one of you knows whats up.

My phone has 8 mega pixels and the pictures turn out pretty damn good. Even better than the ones on my digital camera.

I find that I can take awesome pictures like 99% of the time when I'm outside...but indoor lighting is just a COMPLETELY different story. My phone has done some amazing things outside and its like 3 mp lol.

Kodak cameras are garbage.
The best digital camera you can buy IMO is a Canon.

i think most people would agree with that. is this 12 MP camera a dslr? I need some help with mine too. it never keeps the entire bud in focus. just a small portion of it. I'm sure it's probably a simple fix, but damned if i can figure it out.

MP only come into play after about 4-5 MP for blowing up images into photos and posters. I have a 14.2 MP Samsung but as you said, it's only "better" when you need to take long distance photos (10x optical zoom) and want to print and frame them
my 14.2 is definitely much nicer than my previous 4 MP camera.

My sister has a really nice nikon dslr and it takes amazing pictures. its to bad she sucks at taking pictures and is too lazy to learn how to use photoshop. Some people no matter what can't take a good picture and she's one of them.
I 've also noticed with my phone outside lighting is 10 times better especially the video camera, which records in 720p. It looks like shit indside but outdoors it looks amazing

My buddy thats into photography has a really really neat one. Its like 4 inches high, its just a desk tripod. I should see if I can borrow it, because I don't really have a very steady hand.

A tripod is a must for close up macro's and long distant zoom shots.
Also keep in mind while in macro mode it usually focuses on the center of your viewer. So the edges will most times will be hazy or blurry looking.
Play with the different functions on your cameras menu. Make sure that your exposure time is set to auto. Check and set iso to auto if you can or at 100 to 200. 100 usually is best. If you can set white balance then do that also.
I do not know your camera's certain set up and menus, so im afraid this is all I can really add. But google can usually find your cameras user guide for further info.

Like about 98% of people you're assuming that a high number of megapixels is all you need to take good pictures. Quite frankly, I find that a little silly. Megapixels merely measure the digital resolution of the image that's captured, they have absolutely nothing to do with the quality of the picture (ie the quality of light intake on the camera) you take. In order to take great pictures it's really about the lens on the camera, and various other mechanisms within the camera that determine how to capture what you want. I have a 4MP camera that takes pictures 100x better than some of those stupid nikon koolpix cameras with 25MP. They're tiny and have no lens so they're basically useless, my 4mp thing has a BEAST of a lens on it, and thus it's capable of taking pictures like this;

Yep, high MP cameras are mainly for people who print their photos, higher the MP the bigger pictures you can print with clarity.

Or exploit the digital zoom if you're capturing something moving very fast and don't want to zero in the frame.

my camera is only 4MP (fuck you Harry, it's a nikon coolpix). the Kodak camera is a piece of shit it obviously; the lens could possibly have some sort of manufacturer's defect or something as well.
i honestly have no idea ...
except that the Kodak camera is probably just a piece of shit with shitty parts and a shitty lens.

i got the kodak one as a gift for a friend who just wanted a digicam for christmas a few years back. $60 i think.
i paid $180 or so for my fuji film camera. i guess you really get what you pay for.
the kodak also has a face detection thing that I honestly cant turn off. nowhere in the settings will it allow for it.
