I have a Fujifilm Finepix camera thats 8 MP. For some reason, with a little finangling, I can get it to take BEAUTIFUL pictures. Like, 10x better than the 12 MP camera.
Anyone know wtf the deal with that is?
I post here, because I know some of you guys get mad nice bud shots (Harry, Slothie) and was hoping maybe one of you knows whats up.
Like about 98% of people you're assuming that a high number of megapixels is all you need to take good pictures. Quite frankly, I find that a little silly. Megapixels merely measure the digital resolution of the image that's captured, they have absolutely nothing to do with the quality of the picture (ie the quality of light intake on the camera) you take. In order to take great pictures it's really about the lens on the camera, and various other mechanisms within the camera that determine how to capture what you want. I have a 4MP camera that takes pictures 100x better than some of those stupid nikon koolpix cameras with 25MP. They're tiny and have no lens so they're basically useless, my 4mp thing has a BEAST of a lens on it, and thus it's capable of taking pictures like this;

Or exploit the digital zoom if you're capturing something moving very fast and don't want to zero in the frame.
