So, I know plants benefit most from 12/12 throughout their flowering time. Cool.
Now, maybe I'm misinformed on this next bit...but I thought the plants produced more THC/bud swell/other desirable traits because they could sense the end of their life was coming - they are trying like crazy to make seeds.
So...would it make sense to shorten the amount of light accordingly as the plant ages? Wouldn't it make the plant feel more of its "panic" and therefore do more of the desirable things we want it to?
I mean, there obviously has to be a reason why we don't do this. Someone has to have thought this through before. Maybe the benefits are outweighed by production during the 12 hours we give them?
Thanks. Hope that made sense, I'm kinda

Why should that mean it isn't real?
many people flower at 8 hours of light, or switch to 8 at the end i have read people who know there strains start at 14 then 12 then 8 in other words. people do exactly what you are saying.

Oooh thats neat! Have any links to someones experimentation with it? I have a girl finishing up now...maybe I'll try 8 soon.
I was going to look at a weekly chart for sun times in my area, and adjust it each week for how many minutes it changes per week. Although, I doubt my area is ideal for lighting time. Maybe if I knew what zone was perfect for cannabis I could use that chart.
Hmmmmm.

I'm pretty sure 12/12 is where you want to be. I've been taught that anything less than 12 hours of sunlight will not make plants flower faster and will actually reduce yield.
I don't mean less than 12 to make them flower faster. I mean tapering the lights down as the plants age. You know, to simulate nature a little bit better.
