I've been slowly building up to go hydro. Have a 4 x 4 flood and drain table with a 70 gal reservoir. Has a 1000 watt hps light, air cooled, over it. Thats been the easy part.
This is were I'm going to need help. I live in the sub tropics, hot(100f day or close, right now its 93f @ 8:30pm) and humid(80% at night) 8 out of 12 months.
Grow room will be keep at 80f, under the lights will be about 85f.
I've made one attempt at hydro with an EZ Cloner. That was a laugh, root rot . Anything over 80f and I get root rot fast. So I'm going to need a chiller to help keep reservoir temp's down around 70 f.
To buy one or make one? Monies are tight and I have an old refeg. Just need a container to hold water, a pump, hose to run to reservoir and a small radiator( made from cpvc pipe) to put in the reservoir. Can probable find all but the pump.
Which brings me to the question is it better to run water from the refeg to the reservoir or the reservoir to the refeg? Which would keep it coolest?
Buying one $800 plus 1/2 hp water pump $200 plus shipping. May be easyer to control as weather changes over the year.
I leaning toward the refeg but if it does not work I'll be paying for an education I don't need.
Pass on your experience or share your thoughts. Need help doing thangs.
