New Ducting/Exhaust design
    #452169 - 07/27/10 11:04 PM (14 years, 3 months ago)

After trying to run 2x400w and a 1000w hps lights with a 440cfm 6" inline fan.... I ran into too many temperature problems.

This time, I wanted to change it to a 1000w and a 600w light in the following setup

<--6" duct exhaust<--inline booster fan<--1000w<--600w<--Inline Fan<--scrubber

What do you think? I wanted to get some feedback before changing the system. Any suggestions?

Also, I wanted to note that I currently have 2x4" inline fans (170cfm) that I am not using at the moment. Can I incorporate them into this setup? I am trying to get the temps down to 80F-85F. The outside temps in the summer are very hot but the house is kept at 75F via the central a/c.

Thanks.

Hey, hook up the central air to your room and put a vent damper(i think thats the right word) on the vent so when the a/c is on the air flows in smoothly but when you turn it off the vent will shut and prevent odor from being pumped through the house via back pressure.

Do I hook it up to the the lights, bringing cold air to be passed through the lights or run ducting from a/c vent (ceiling) to intake on the bottom of box?

anyone else want to chime in?

Update: due to space restrictions, I placed the inline fan between the two lights with the inline booster at the beginning of the line, the scrubber is not hooked up yet until 2 weeks into flowering.

I was talking about hooking it up to your grow room to help with temps.

IF U COULD JUST HOOK A FAN TO BLOW AIR INTO THE ROOM ( INSIDE AIR). IT IWLL MAKE A BIG DIFFERNCE.. IS THE PLACE SEALED UP OR IS THERE SPACE FOR AIR TO FLOW FREELY INTO THE EXHAUST?? ALSO THE LONGER THE DUCTING THE MORE LOSE OF FLOW U WILL HAVE.... THE SCRUBBER ISN'T GONNA HELP AIR FLOW.

Thank you all for your suggestions, I redid all the ducting and made it much more efficient with less run and turns and added a second inline fan on a separate exhaust with the carbon scrubber, the air being brought in to cool the lights comes from outside the box. My temps were peaking in the 90's with all lights on, worst was when it climbed to 97F.

It is now.... after 24hr.... 80F-81F!!!!!

I did it and my babies thank you for your input. No more stress, just beautiful growth.

Be prepared to see some sexy ladies when 12/12 begins. I will be starting a grow journal of their exploits, with of course, plenty of pictures to get you through the reading.

All the 1000w tubes I've seen have been 8". I'd say you need more air flow so bigger vents and stronger fan.

Looks like my advice is not needed though. Good work.
