having read both books

I find this a pretty spot on cartoon.  well actually I like to think that they both made good points, and a likely scenario is a mixture of the two.

you know what i did in english class? I came to class stoned out of my mind every day, i chugged vodka in the back of class, i put dead fish in the ceiling tiles. i put a gallon of old milk and orange juice in the file cabinet before winter vacation. i brought snakes in a tied up sweater and let them loose during class. i didnt go to school to learn, i went because i had to. i didnt care, and i didn't fucking listen to that stupid bitch. and i still don't fucking care. i tore the pages out of her books and burned them, and threw away all the books in the class, two books per day.  :twobooks:

They were both right. Love and hate are two ends of the spectrum of emotion and they both contribute to our peril.

There are obvious examples of both, expressions in modern culture and historical events, perversions and excesses.

These books always just felt to :tinfoil: to me.

Like I could give a shit less unless I'm not getting good treatment by the government, and at that time it will be time for revolution. But I prefer to just chill of and not worry about shit. But I might just be like that cuz I used to worry to much (I had good reason to worry, but the amount of worrying made me very not happy in general) about my mom.

I'm high.

I don't know why, but I'm always thinking about the big picture shit like this. I guess when some body has nothing else to worry about they can start to contemplate these things.

Makes since.

If I didn't have anything to worry about, I'd probably want to go out and find a little.

Some could call this unreasonable, but I honestly just assume that people will do the best they can to do the best they can. Like I expect politics to go in the "good" direction.

So if you are me in a liberal/libertarian direction. lol

I probably expect to much.

Good thing you aren't in debate.

Sometimes you get a round that is about philosophy, and sometimes about the very rules of debate.

But mostly just politics. Alt fuels, Marijuana, immigration, economy, etc...

Politics = Follow the money. Its a ridiculous game we play in our "modern" society. The media perpetuates the shit to extremes making it even worse.

It often seems like progress, socially and technologically, is often stifled because there isn't as much money in it.

Guess I'll read "Brave New World." That is what the world is today. The other book is far less of what reality is today. Society has almost no control over me, and fear, I have no fear. But I am overflown with information to the point of submission and pacifism. Society is trivial, no jobs really matter, life doesn't matter, tv, internet, news is all trivial. Products, iphones etc loose meaning.

Nothing has a purpose in the Information Overload as I call it.

Have you read the other book?  There's plenty of subjects discussed within that are poignant to society today.
