So I'm finally starting some seeds; I put them in a cup of water on top of the fridge last night. They're going to be in hempy buckets. I've noticed that most people seem to start their seeds in rockwool or peat pellets or whatever before transplanting to hempy. I was wondering if anyone just pops their seeds directly into a hempy solo cup after they split. How do all of you hempy growers start your seeds?
Just depends I guess.. As of lately I have been just starting them in jiffy pellets because then they don't have to be handled when you move them, just pick it up and put it in the cup. Hydrate the pellet put the seed about 1/4"-1/2" deep at the most and cover it up with a little of the peat(doesn't have to be packed down much). Then I stick mine in a ziplock so it doesn't dry out, after that put 'em in a warm(75*-80*) spot and you'll have seedlings in 24-48hrs.

I know of people who've putting a layer of soil ontop of hydrotron which has bigger gaps to fill than a mixture of perlite and vermiculite and having success.
I imagine a layer or pocket of vermiculite may be more appropriate for hempy buckets.
