Fractional Force Flowering (FoFF)

Force flowering indoors is the norm in fact you would have to have a pretty elaborate set up to not force flower indoors. Switching from 18/6 to 12/12(or w/e you use) is just how its done. with that said outdoor growers have fluctuating light cycle unless traditional force flowering is used.
Traditional outdoor Force Flowering Putting plants in dark room or a closet,If not possible make covering with black polyethylene material. Cover your 12hours a night for two weeks and they will start flowering immediately.
so this is to say " You are going to have to cover and uncover them until mother nature turns her hours to 12/12. if ya do it for 2 weeks and then stop they will convert to vegging unless mother natures hours are 12/12" also " exact timing too or they can get shocked. and do not subject them to any stronger light than what a full moon would give in their dark 12 hours, or else you can easily get hermies. "
Plants in the northern hemisphere will flower when the light cycle is reduced enough for the plats to react.the end of July to beginning of august have abut 14 hours of light. This is when everybody expects to see signs of pre flowers.
My scenario i have two flowering plants raised on 16 hours of light. they can use 11 weeks of flowering time for proper maturity. They were brought out on summer solstice where naturally they start to receive 15 hours of receding sunlight. This is on June 21st still about 40 days from flower time in my area.
My proposal that i would like to call Fractional outdoor Force Flowering(FoFF) Give the plants a week to realize they are at 15 hours, say until July first then after they slightly adjusted to the 15, switch them over to 14 right way
if i put the bags on at 8 pm on July 1st the plants would feel like its early august in the northern hemisphere the light cycle for July first is "Sunrise: 5:28am Sunset: 8:31pm" August 11Th VVVV Sunrise: 6:01am Sunset: 8:00pm http://www.sunrisesunset.com/calendar.asp?comb_city_info=New%20York,%20New%20York;74;40.8;-5;1&month=7&year=2010&time_type=0&use_dst=1 so your only cutting off abut a half hour of light a night but outdoors it should make almost a month difference. also I'm proposing the bag only needs to be on for an hour or two max no need to leave it on over night and or wake up at a certain time to take off the bag.
Cover the plants religiously for 40 day to gain almost 6 weeks flower and end up perfectly synced with the natural light cycle as to not stress them If you break the 14 hours of light cycle before July 30th it will revert to vegetative stage.Apparently even a few minutes of anything more than a full moon will do this. so missing a day can spell disaster. you could say this is more for getting a longer flowering time not for flowering earlier.
does anyone see any problem with this idea does it hold water? can Fractional Force Flowering work outdoors to get to flowering quicker? please explain to me any problems you have or let me now if you think this will work.

I'm not sure but I'm gonna say no.
My reason is that the plant starts to flower when the light hours get low enough as you stated but it's a release of a hormone that causes flowering. Now once the hormone starts to be released the first two weeks are generally stretching then flowering starts.
Now the reason I don't think it will be faster. Say the plant won't release the hormone till the light gets to say 13 hours. Weather the plant is at 18 hours a day of light or 13.5 hours of day of light the flowering can't start till the plant reaches that 13 hour mark.
I hope I'm making sense here.
Now if you want to start flowering early you can do as you stated and lower the light by making a tent or whatever you do to place the plants in darkness till the light in the area gets to where you need it.

okay, so your saying it could work but i don't know the particular strain enough to know if 14hours will induce flowering. is this correct?
what would you say the worst case scenario would be at 14 hours of light? i just really want my sativas to finish in the northern hemisphere and they are already 3 months old.

Well sativas are pretty much equatorial plants so they are pretty use to 14 hrs as a vegetative light. Remember the closer you get to the equator the less difference in the seasonal change in hours. In other works the light in summer may be 14 hrs a day and winter 12.
Easiest way to say it-------cut the lights back to 12 hrs starting any time between now and a week or so. If indicas start flowering in August then you want to get the sativas going on to the flowering phase now.
Also remember sativas will ofter get 3 times their size during flowering. (depending on the strain of sativa)

hmmm i understand what you are saying but if this thing needed 14 weeks on 12/12 then it wouldn't start to flower till about Sept 30th and wouldnt be done till DEC-Jan it would have to flower around august 10Th to finish in early November witch is when everything i have read said it would flower.
so worst scenario i end up with a hermie that is supper stretchy in the 14 hour stage?

Well that is why I was saying to start the plants flowering now.

i would like to flower now but i dont want to cover my plants for 12 hours a night, i have scrogs and i am worried about mold i think i can manage covering a lil early every night and then uncover when its dark enough out. but as you said it wont work. so i guess gonna go all natural. also i just wanted to say, thank you; your input is valued.

Actually this will work. If you have 10 hours of darkness and need 12 cover them for 2 hours a day. Your at a far bigger risk of mold letting them go natural then if you cover them now. Let them go and your harvesting in the rainy season.

I agree, I've force flowered a few times and it's really not that much of a science. I definitely didn't get the exact 12/12 cycle every day and I had absolutely no problems, even though I really thought it might cause a hermie. No dice, perfect female

occasional extended force flowering [Re: grod31]

I would like to start this but there will undoubtedly be some nights i wont be able to put the tarp on at 8 i understand missing a night would be bad because the extended light can confuse the plant into reveg but if for a few random nights i were to put the tarp on like 2 hours early would this be as bad?

You can do it missing a night every now and then will not fuck them up if they are deep into flowering (over 3 weeks). Just don't miss nights back to back.

okay so your saying missing once i a awhile isnt that to detrimental witch is great im glad to hear it from you.
Is that to say that missing one night would be better then giving it extended hours for that one night?

Yeah, don't go trying to make up for it if you miss a night just go back to normal as soon as possible.

i think you might have misunderstood what i meant to say i don't mean that if i miss a night should i put it on the next day for extended hours. what i meant was if i know i wont be home at 8 can i put the tarp on at say 6; and wold that be any more or less beneficial than completely missing one day. regardless i have gathered that missing/changing one day will not be a problem
