 2,000 Pounds Of Pot Worth $5 Million Seized From Apartment

BOSTON --
A Boston man has been arrested after authorities said they seized about 2,000 pounds of marijuana from his apartment.
Boston and state police, in conjunction with the FBI Drug Task Force, had been at the scene early Wednesday morning to execute an unrelated search warrant for heroin on Wilcock Street in Mattapan. While officers were in the process of carrying out that warrant, officers observed a resident in a third-floor apartment attempting to flee the premises.
Police said officers approached Edgar Gonzalez, 40, of Boston and asked why he was running away. In the course of the conversation, officers learned that Gonzalez mistakenly assumed the police were in the area looking for him. When officers learned that Gonzalez lived on the third floor of the location, officers went to his apartment to check things out.
As they entered the third-floor apartment, officers said they were able to detect what smelled like marijuana. Officials spotted several large plastic trash bags which they said contained marijuana. After receipt of a search warrant, officers located 40 bales of marijuana wrapped in black plastic in another area of the apartment.
Officers then arrested Gonzalez and charged him with drug trafficking. When officers asked if he was aware of the large amount of marijuana in his apartment, Gonzalez said he knew nothing about it.
Police Commissioner Ed Davis stated, “This arrest should serve as a clear message to those who attempt to disrupt the safety of our neighborhoods. The Boston Police Department, in conjunction with our many law enforcement partners, will aggressively pursue individuals who compromise a community where hard-working and law-abiding people reside. It is simply unacceptable in this city and we will hold perpetrators accountable.”
Authorities are calling this the single largest seizure of marijuana in Boston's recent history with a street value of approximately $5 million.
The Suffolk District Attorney's Office said Edgar Gonzalez, also known as Felix Soto, is being held on $1 million cash bail.

so where's the heroin? what, did they go to snag a couple bindles and reel in this lunker of a bust? Stay in your apartment until they knock! And even then, don't answer unless they know you're there.
