Flowering with MH for 3 weeks or so?

Hi,
Is there any benefit to using an MH bulb for the first few weeks of flowering?
My understanding is it will greatly reduce the stretching, but may extend the flowering period.
I've also read that flowering with an MH all the way through won't give you very large buds but will give you "higher quality buds." So, if I switch to my HPS after 3 weeks, would this affect my yield very much?
Any other information would be great.
Thanks guys.

This is very relevant to my interests. I was wondering this myself, in a sorta different way. I was wondering if using 1 HPS and 1 MH all the way through flowering would be good. So, kinda the same question, but a little bit different of an approach
I'm interested to see what the pros say

I'm not a pro.
Did have to use the back up MH for three weeks. Had a HPS light failure.
This gave me a chance to see the difference side by side.
MH had bigger leaves and finished faster by a week or two over all.
Most likely will use this light timing on next grow.

Well I've been trying to find more info on flowering with an MH and then switching to HPS. There is little to non. On the other hand, there is a ton of info on using MH and HPS side by side. Apparently, the best lighting for your plant is using an HPS MH combo, with a 2:1 watt ratio. So basically, 1000watt HPS and 400watt MH is ideal for flowering.
The plants benefit from the color spectrum of the HPS as well as the UVB light from the MH.

I think it just makes sense to give them a full spectrum of light similar to what the sun produces. I'm not really on board with the whole PAR bandwagon.
Check out sunpulse bulbs, that's basically their entire mission statement

Ah shit, the way I was looking at setting it up, it'd be opposite that. Got some free MH lights...

I agree. People think I'm crazy when I tell them that the herb I grow outdoors may not have the bag appeal that my indoor harvests do, but I promise you that the OD grown stuff is going to get you higher. I stand by this.

This will work fine.
The MG will just keep the plants shorter, and bud sites tighter.
These were done 4 weeks MH and then 4 weeks HPS.

They make dual arc bulbs (HPS + MH in one bulb)
Quote:
The EYE SUPER BLUE lamp features the extraordinary power of Super HPS and the balanced spectrum of Hortilux Blue in one bulb! The benefits of Metal Halide and High Pressure Sodium together: vigorous growth, accelerated development, and hearty flowering! The lamp’s unmatched energy spectrum provides the optimum light for plant growth through the entire growth cycle.
Currently only in 1000w (600wHPS/400wMH)
i've heard they have amazing results
