reusing hempy media?

Those who grow Hempy: do you reuse your perlite mix, or just throw it out and buy more? That sounds like a hassle, but it may be easier than separating roots and sterilizing it or something. The one thing holding me back now from definitely going with Hempy is that perlite's not biodegradable, and therefore not easily disposed of in my garden in a stealthy manner.

100% yes you can and should re-use perlite when possible. I regret not doing it earlier. I use a strainer from the dollar store and a 5-gal bucket no joke.

You use coco/perlite, right? Do you just break up the root ball by hand over a strainer and catch the coco and roots as they fall through? Then what with the perlite, rinse and heat? Do you use bleach? I can see bleach being really bad...

I believe he uses something like cannazym afterwards to help break down the roots.

Yeah this is a must for coco because the roots blend in so well with the hair-like fibers of the coir you would never get them all out. With perlite alone I don't think you will need cannazym because it should come pretty clean but I would soak the perlite in pH'd water for a couple days afterwards.
