Keeping my auto-flowers 24/7?

Both of my female auto-flowers are a week or two into flowering...ones a few weeks behind the other.
I've had them under 24 hour lighting, because they never need to go 12/12 for flowering. I've heard to keep them on longer for maximum production.
So, sensibly, 24 hours would be the best schedule for them, correct?
However I could swear I remember someone saying that 24 hour lighting was bad for plants...they need a dark period in order to do their thing. They've been doing fine for a few weeks...but not that they've started to flower (which is where you don't want to lose them!) so I figured I'd check.
Thanks!

I've read that 20/4 is just as effective as 24/0 with autoflowering plants. Possibly could save some juice, and it couldn't really hurt the plant any.

Well, I only have one timer and thats being used on my 12/12 closet.
So, unless the 4 hours really makes a difference, I'll just leave it on 24 :P

I do 18/6 but 24/0 will not hurt. Roots grow faster in the dark. Thats why I use a dark time.
