hmmmm.... that's tough then. If I had just seen this picture I would say 100% male. You're saying that all the other places on the plant that look like this have pistils?
Are you flowering right now? If so then I would just wait it out a little longer and we'll see how the buds look when they're developed

thats the only spot ive seen them. on the next spot up same branch has pistils and everywhere else has pistils. so if they are balls it looks like that will be the only spot that has them. if they continue to get bigger and are pollen balls would it be ok to cut them off? i really dont want all my plants pollenated.

Now if you wanna see a hermie, check out the one i had. Should give you an idea on what to expect if thats what you got :/
In my honest opinion, its a liiiitle to early to tell, but its teetering to the male side... Im hoping for the female, but males just seem to pop outta nowhere.....

no you dont! I will never allow hermies in my garden. It's simply too difficult to reasonably expect to purge all the staminate. those things can pop up anywhere on a floral cluster. and later on it will be hard to inspect every CM of every bud. trust me on that.

I have had plants turn hermie and cease to produce nanners after trimming the first couple of noticeable ones off. I think that some plants that have the genetic predisposition to hermie will just continue putting out pollen sacks while other females that were stressed into turning hermie might not continue to put out the male parts. In my experience it is luck, but yes that is definitely a hermie. Sorry bro, trim those nanners and hope not to see more. Stay on top of them and don't allow any nanners to mature and you can prevent pollenation. If it goes full blown hermie, preventing pollenation will be futile as you won't be able to keep up with all the male parts, they will just grow too fast and you will damage the buds trying to remove them.
As a side note, I have had potent end product from plants that have hermied. However, if you have plants that are early in flower around the hermie, if they are pollenated you will have a significant hit on your yield on that plant, as seed production takes away from bud production. You will also have a bunch of feminized seeds with a predisposition to hermie if the "father" did not hermie from undue stress but rather hermied easily. A good female will take a lot of effort to hermie. I have tried to purposely hermie a plant. Not as easy as you may think with a strong female.

This is so very true.
As an alternative to killing it completely, you can strip ALL of the side branches of the plant and just concentrate on the main cola. Not too hard to inspect all of one cola every couple of days.
That will be my tactic for my next grow. After that, I will be out of seeds. So it's either find some decent seeds between now and July or I'll have to break down and order some.

well i pinched them off, i can only hope no more pop up. if they do and i wont be able to keep up then ill try what you said greenthumb and take off all the branches. but if theres very few and i can somewhat keep up then i will do my best to prevent pollenation.

Eh, I missed it. Anyway. I've come to the conclusion that hermie seeds are BAD. The trait in itself is an absolute bitch no matter how vigilant you are. The only reason I'm still using them is because they are the only seeds I have at the moment. If(when) I buy pot it's seedless and all my money has been spent on new grow equipment.
I don't see the sense in growing good seed out under inferior equipment. So I'm using what I have right now. I just bought a new light/reflector/ballast/hortilux bulbs should all be here this week.
I'm not asking, but if anyone wants to discuss "genetics" please PM me. As of earlier today I'm looking at Killing Fields from Sannie.

does a plant have to be flowering to get pollenated?

my plants in veg have sexed a while ago and each have a couple, but they are old and the hairs are getting dark. are these open for pollenation? if so and i get pollentated would it be really seedy because it happened early or not very seedy because theres only a couple calyx and they will be in veg for a while?

I guess I'm not understanding you fully. If your plant is still in veg, I don't understand how the old hairs are getting dark. How many hairs does your plant have? Are they just preflower hairs? How long have they been vegging for and how long do you plan on vegging?
Sorry for all the questions. I saw your journal. If you only plan on using those two shoplights for flowering then you should have flipped them to 12/12 like a week ago. I'd suggest either a light upgrade or overdrive the shoplights you have for flowering.

all my clones got preflowers while they were in veg. now i have 2 in bud and 2 in veg. the 2 in veg(since2/10) only have a few pistils and the pistils are getting dark in color like they are dieing. i plan to keep them in veg until my rocklock is harvested for safety measures because she has slight male genes and didnt want the 2 plants that i want to get big to get pollenated. as for the lights i am hopefully ordering a 400w hps next week. overdrive the lights? the rocklock and 1 purple crack have been in bud since 3/21 and theres a 2nd purple in bud since3/31.
so could the plants in veg. with a couple dieing pistils get pollenated?

I wouldn't think so but don't take my word for it. I'm sure someone else has some input on this though.
I have had hermies throw pollen right next to my veg closet (it's probably happening right now) and I've never had a problem with plants in veg getting pollinated.
