oh boy oh boy.... probably not a pH problem, sorry to tell you. Also, the 5.5 is for hydro, soil you want it to be around 7. I hope this doesn't cause any problems for you....
to me it looks like you spilled water on the leaves and that the lights burned it, but with only 120W of cfl's that doesn't seem likely.
I do yes. Everything in my signature was grown soilless, and I find it to be a very simple and effective way to grow.
With the size of that plant you could probably still transplant it into a soilless mix, just gently wash off the roots and try to get as much soil as possible before transplanting. I would recommend either coir, or hempy buckets. hempy's are a mix of perlite and vermiculite in about an 8:1 ratio. That's the method I use and it literally could not be simpler
