I always thought bongs got you higher and were better for you.

I stumbled across this today and the article asserts that bongs actually filter THC more than the other shit that it should be filtering out instead. Fucking a. I love smoking bongs, but quiet honestly, I've sort of noticed this myself. Joints get me higher(edit - what I meant was, I have to use less pot if I smoke a J to get where I want to be, than I would out of a bong.) This article has ruined my fucking day. I love my bong. Now I discover it doesn't love me. Fuck.

tl;dr - but I thought THC wasn't water soluble so how would it filter out THC?
And I've always gotten much higher from 5 bong hits than 5 blunt hits.

I have the same question. I suppose if THC was completely water soluble a bong would not do shit to you. So by that logic, I guess THC is kinda-sorta-not really water soluble.

We've discussed this article here before. Here were my thoughts on it;
A joint contains more active alkaloids per unit volume than a bong. However, bongs cool the smoke and allow you to take significantly larger hits, which in turn get's you higher per inhalation. It's really a matter of your measurement system for which one gets you higher. I'd be more interested in which one delivers more THC into your lungs per gram of material combusted

Even though there may not be a "filter" on a joint or blunt, the smoke actually does get filtered by getting pulled through the rest of the material thats not currently burning, thats why they get all resin'y at the end. While it may not be an efficent filter up to whatever standard, I understand how less tar may be passed opposed to the bong..

I think it was mentioned ^ by someone, but maybe its because I can take bigger hits from my bong than I can from a blunt. I have 0 nicotine tolerance. I can't even smoke a cigarette without coughing. So, maybe thats why.

Yeah me too. I haven't smoked a J in a while though and honestly thinking about this a little bit, I'm not so sure about my statement I made earlier. I can't help but feel I use more bud with the bong though.

Ever since my first smoke of a joint all they've done is mellow me a bit. I absolutely love the bong, to me there's nothing that does it like a bong.

I have to agree with this. If i put the same amount of weed into a joint that I do my bong, it would be the size of a toothpick. Out of all the types of pipes I've used, my favorite remains the bong. As much as I like my volcano, if i had a choice it would be my trusty little bong I've had for a good while.
