But maybe I'm wrong on this one and were all getting ripped off at the grow store. Anyone else wanna chime in on this??
Okay well first off regular HPS bulbs will work perfectly fine.
They all have relatively the same spectrum (2000k) and the only types of HPS bulbs that will have the advantage for growing purposes would be the SunPulse, Hortilux, Sun Agro, etc... Just to name a few.
150w bulbs ONLY come in regular styles (Commercial/Industrial) and I'm pretty sure everyone I have seen that uses a 150 does juuuuuust fine. My Sun System setup came with just your standard $8 bulb and I have had NO complaints with the spectrum. My plants also prove that theory wrong. I grow big dense nugs with such a small system, so I really have to disagree with that statement that they won't work well for growing applications, seeing as they don't even make a 150w HPS bulb for cultivation and 150's have been proven very effective for Micro/Cab grows.

No problem! I'm glad you brought that up because I have had a lot of people tell me to upgrade (which I can't with a 150) but it caused me to look into it further.
IMO if you have plenty of money and it's not a big deal to throw down $100 for a bulb, I'd say it is worth it to go with a Sun Agro, but if you are a grower on a budget like me, It is more worth it to buy the regular bulbs.
That way I can pick up multiple bulbs for the same price, which means I can replace them after every 2 flowering cycles keeping the lumen output high and beating depreciation.
I was in no way getting after you for that post BTW, I just figured I throw my 2 cents in there.
BTW I can't wait to see your log take off!

Oh I know you weren't. You stated it in a well thought out concise and polite way.
Me too man, I'm about to take clones in a week or so.
