OK first off swamps flood like with only 2in of rain, secondly if planting in a swamp or marsh, it is good to plant them in 5gal buckets with them a little above ground level so when it does flood, they dont die, I have planted in marshs for 3yrs btw.

well i figured that. so its on a hill before the swamp. just really close. the soil is wet from the swamp. just i doubt it will flood there.

Would you recommend swamps? What about wildlife that threaten your life? I always found swamps/marshes unappealing because of the Alligators/snakes...

How do you deal?

Well first off im up north so only snakes, and I have only seen 2 in 6 years of growing in the general region. I really like them but its hard to protect the plants without drawing attention. I hate stupid fucking deer, only problem I have had with wildlife. I use a double 5gal bucket wick system, the buckets are stacked and both buckets have holes drilled in the bottom, only the outside bucket has holes all over the sides also. You bury the bottom of the outside bucket like in 4-5in of water and then dirt to the rim, try to make it level with the normal ground. Then just fill your inner bucket with soil that is like 20% verm. It also helps to spray paint both buckets black and the rims brownish-black. Then all you do is place the inner bucket into the outter bucket, I have a bunch of outter buckets buried around and along the marsh/stream so that if I feel a sites been found, I can just move them to a different cluster somewhere else.

That is pretty smart. I have read a similar tek to growing in the swamp. Pretty cool. I am interested in growing in swamps but the wildlife is too thick, so to speak.

Ya I litteraly hike up a river then up a stream, always in the water so I leave no foot prints, and then into a marsh and then I am at my spot. I have never ever seen or heard anyone around there, not even on the river and I even google earthed the whole area and no one lives within 10 miles from the only stream entry point due to a gorge and a canyon. My rule of thumb is if you can hike for one hour in any direction from your grow space and never see any people or even tracks your perfect.

I have also grown in a swamp with great results.  I filled black garbage bags with soil, then put my plant (in a 5 gal. with the bottom cut off) on top of that and seal the bag around the bucket.  I just fenced off the whole area so deer didn't get em... I fucking hate deer.

I came out near harvest and there was a foot of water on the ground but my plants made it through that with no problems and once the water receded I harvested successfully.  It was literally 30 feet off of a road and completely invisible due to the tall vegetation.  :awesome:

I'm a little more careful and thoughtful with my locations these days though.

how far from the road? The minimum.

Do you park on the side of the road and walk? Do you park out of plain sight?

I used to but that was like 8-9 years ago when I was 17, young and didn't mind people, but i'm more careful these days.

Well I would say probably 100 feet.  I went in a 360 circle around the spot to make sure it was not visible from ANYWHERE except the sky, which can't be helped.  But they don't do aerial surveillance around here.  I grew (3) 5 foot bushes with no problems.

The smell can travel quite far, so keep that in mind as well.  The greatest thing about the swamp grow is when it's mid summer and drought conditions, the taproot is already down into the moist FERTILE medium and I didn't have to water once.  Nature takes care of you if you work with her.

Thanks. I am tingling with excitement.

Outdoor grows are my next project, I am looking forward to tackling all areas, especially security. No joke, I might as well wear a black tux and call myself Bond, James Bond.

Look out for my grow log on the outdoor beauties, going to be making seed and dank.

Do you have problems with deer near swamps as much? With bugs?

I would just wrap/glue/staple camouflage burlap along the outside of the bucket.
