Grow room advise....

3x3x5, or 5x3x5 are my limits. Probably going with recirculating DWC. Having trouble on ideas tho. IDK if i should do (assuming 3x3) 9 5 gal bucket plants; or since im limited on height a little; doing SOG with x plants tho? Im having trouble deciding how i want to go about doing this. I wanted 3 gal buckets; but they are hard to find with smaller diameter of 5 gals. Ideas?

If you want a variety of bucket sizes, head over to home depot. The paint aisle is a good place to look. I found some 2 gallon buckets there for about 2 bucks a pop.
How many watts are you planning on using in this room? If you go with a SOG style I'd stick with a smaller bucket size so you can get more plants in there. I wouldn't go past a 3 gallon bucket. Think one foot of plant per gallon of substrate (rough estimate). If you're plants get to three feet, that means you have two feet of space to work with to hang your light. It should be ok, but, if the plants grow up past that you'll have to work on tying them down or keeping your bulb super cool (I personally wouldn't let the tops touch my cool tube though).

Ventilation will be 250w HPS, air drawn from the room; over the light; out a carbon. I know its better to do dual ven (light and exhaust) but less fans = less noise i have to silence. Thats also why im sticking with 250. Im not able to deal with the heat of a 400.
so a 2 gal will work? (P.S. i work at a hardware store lol, but no its not HD)
The exact room dimensions are 47 in wide, by 70 in long, 5ft high. I was going to put the veg in there; but i'll do a steal veg elsewhere. I want to utilize all space available.
The scrubber and all will be above the room; i have 1.5 ft head space to work with; just theres a shelf in the way (formerly a closet but i cant remove the shelf).

what kind of fan will you be using? is this your first time growing? if it is, use 2 gal pots (9 plants in total), veg for 2 -3 weeks, and then switch over to flower. give them space and never have a high expectation in yield.
remember, life is what happens when you don't expect life to be happening.

Well, some 2 gal buckets i found should allow for 28, but gotta fit the res so like 24-26. Under a 250 should bring a decent yield no? Im thinking this is going to be the easiest; cheapest; and most efficent way to get a good yield. Then if i stagger; do like 12 plants in two cycles... Or you think it'd be better to just do all 24 at once...
Start out with some low riders till i find a nice pheno low sog clone to pick up... then go balls out with it.

Not my first time growing; and i plan to use the quiest fan i can find. Im not going to cheap out on my equipment. Lumitek ballast; prolly hydrofarm fan (my 365 squirrel cage was pretty quiet; if i built a box around it and insullated it'd be silent)
I know im not going to be pulling lbs in every week; but i want the best with the area i have to work with...
Im picking up my card soon; after i get off my ass and get my med records; supposedly my cards paid for and the doc is waiting to see me. But we'll see....

you need space. if you dont look at it as a crop, but as a plant, you wont be disappointed.

Im starting to notice SCROG > SOG on yield per space... thoughts on doing like 4 scrogs vs sog?
and im not sure what you mean by the crop vs plant thing...

Ok, this might be quite the odd question... but im able to make my grow room temps be chill enough even for say a 600w; but what are my temps in the room where my grow room is at going to be? Rooms say 12x12...

Depends on THAT rooms ventilation, and if you keep your window cracked you should have no problem keeping it 70 degrees, but if not you can run anywhere from a few to up to 10 degrees over ambient temp, depending on your light size. I have a few hundred watts in a 2x2 box, that vents into a small basement, and the basement doesn't even change. It's always 70-72 in there, so I wouldn't imagine a 250 would do anything different.
Hope that helps

Lol, that helps; but also that makes me want my 400w back but i know i dont have proper ventilation for that... or do i?! Lol. I'll start with a 250 and see how it handles it.
I'll post pics of my idea tonight. I changed to aeroponics, simple 3x3. We'll see tho.
