ok for a 4X4 veg room what do you guys think about one central SP105-50-MED
Light Output: 6900 Lumens
Energy Used: 105 Watts
Rated Life: 8,000 Hours
Volts: 120
Incandescent Equal: 420 Watts
and 4
5500 Lumens
Energy Used: 85 Watts
Rated Life: 8,000 Hours
Volts: 120
Incandescent Equal: 340 Watts
in a square around that one. with no reflectors just pointed down and a white board above he lights? will there be good penetration with these huge CFLs tonnes of lumens/sqfoot perhaps even enough to do flower?? for like 4-5 plants.over kill for veg??
or should i do like 8 42 CFL
42 watters are .0045dollars/lumen
52 watters arebite more expensive per lumen
85watters are the same priceperlumenas 42
105 watters are cheapest at.00434$/lumen
but i know CFL dont penetrate well or travel maybe aswell as HPS so what would be the best thing. cost and grow wise. better to have 2 42 watts or one 85?? same cost. or go for the big one105 and maybe only 4 42watt. like will teh higher watts equal better penetration
anyway i know that was a spooge of a question and shit. any comments experience would be great. thanks

A 4x4 foot space with cfl light. That is insane. Your talking like 13000 total lumen's. Your about 100000 lumen's off for that size space. (that's not a joke)
With a HPS you want to average about 50watts per foot so for a 4x4 space that is 1000watts of hps or mh light. That is about 5000watts of cfl light to get the same lumen's.
Not to be a asshole I just don't wanna see ya go threw a bunch of work to harvest sticks.

but for that number of plants just 4-5 ?? seems like more then enough lumens for that. 2500 per plant?? no?? i appreciate the help

4 plants or 60 plants the space is still 4x4. You can grow the plants just in less space.

True but that is for the entire plant. With CFLs your gonna get that for the first 2 inches of the plant.<(once again I'm not joking)

ok so your saying they dont penetrate well. (within 2 inches) this is just for veg/mother remember. so probably hang some low down beside the plants. thats what i was kind of wondering because to good to be true sorta thing. so would you say dont go for the big bulbs and use more small ones?? if that 100 watt only does anything 3 inches away no real point.more cost effective to use like 3 40 watters? and probably do that for each plant. or what do you think? thanks

If your doing a 4x4 room dont waste your time with cfls just do the 1000W hps, A little more on the electric bill, more heat, but youll still be a lot happier with your end results.

Weeeeell still gonna be a little weak on the light. Myself for veg in a 4x4 space I use a 600watt. That would still be to weak for flowering in that size space.
