Which is the better light?
T8 have 32 watts, T12 have 40 watts.
I have done some goggling but an still at a loss why one is better than the other.

the number refers to the size of the bulb. So the wattage might be different, but it's the diameter of the light that's important to me. You might be able to fit 2 25W T12 in a 2x2 area, but T5's are so much smaller that you could get 4-6 of them in the same space. they might be 1 or 2 watts less powerful, but since they're so much smaller you'll make huge gains

Yup, what he said.
T = Bulb size, T12, T8, T5. Wattage is power consumption; not brightness; color; ect. Kelvins are color rating; excuse my not knowing the range; but the higher the kelvins; the more blue the light. Blue is good for growth; red flowering.
On top of what ba11sach said; T5's; for reasons i dont remember; are exponetially better then T12. Its more brilliant of a color; less power needed; brighter; and more color range. Over all the T5 has greater output in everything positive.
One 2ft T5 will out perform 2 T12's... thats why a T5 costs $40, and a 4 bulb T12 set up costs about $22, bulbs included...

Thanks, that makes sence.
I have a T5,8 lights in less than 2ft wide. They do out preform the T12 I'm use to growing under. Wish I would of gone with 400 watt hps with vented hood.
Noticed I can get all the parts to build my onw T8's. Less heat and all I will need for heat controll is a fan.

Even if you can only get your hands on 150w hps; those are better then T5. And if your not afraid to wire; $200 will get you a nice 250/400 DIY HPS kit...
