The plant that I am growing is on it's thrid set of leaves. Is this to early to change the lighting from 24 to 14 and 12?????

You'll have extremely small yields; some growers go 12/12 from the beginning, but I wouldn't recommend starting flowering for about 30 days.

Can I go back toi 24 hrs or will it confuse the plant?

I've read that the growth expected for the entire grow is proportionate to the veg cycle. The plant grows 2/3 of its full growth in the flowering stage. So, if you are going for 3ft plants, then perhaps after 12-18" you would change light cycle. It all depends.
