Venting to attic questions...

If I were to vent into the attic, would the heat be noticeable on FLIR cameras? Also, I live in a tri-plex. If I used a carbon filter, would neighbors be able to smell it? Do they take odors out completely, or just reduce them?

Does everyone in the triplex, especially the landlord, have access to the attic? If so then DON'T DO IT! Noise, as well be careful. Maybe venting into your house would be better? Use the vented exhaust for a heating system, turn off the regular heating. Or, link the vent to the laundry exhaust, if if is available. Use a carbon filter for sure, either way.
