Grafting Marijuana plants

Has anyone heard of this? I have done alot of reading today on this subject, and I was wondering if anyone here has ever tried doing this. I think if this is possible without causing to much harm to the plant that would give small perpetual growers more strains in a smaller space, which is a win win for me.

My friend had an Apple tree in his yard that was the work of the U of M.
It was 3 trees in one, so you could harvest 3 different strains of apple off of the same tree. It looked so fucking cool. Then a huge storm took one of the strains off, not so cool after.
It's possible, but not very practical.

Very easy to do. You can put branches of different strains on one main stem.(This I have done myself)
Branches have also been grafted to other species. In other words you can have a tomato plant that has a few fun branches on it. (this I haven't done)

Put the plants next to each other. Shave a chunk out of the stem where you want the branch and shave a chunk out of the branch where you want to put it on the stem. Tie those spots together and when they grow together cut the branch off of the original plant and the new plant will take over so to say. The branch continues to grow like it was on the original stem.

Good job magash! your certainly a guru in cannabis! also, at the sake of sounding like a douchebag i first heard of grafting from a very interesting source. In the song "Bin Laden Weed" by the 3-6 mafia, they mention grafting repeatedly and is the reaon why they call it bin laden weed (because its killer). This is the first instance i heard of it and it did peak my interest. interesting source!

When you do this does it put the plant under enough stress to hermie? This is my main concern before attempting this technique.

No, if you do it right it shouldn't stress the plant at all.

A nursery catalog I have has multi-strain apple trees, and plums-apricots/ peaches-apricots. I know you can do this with lemons and oranges too. A canna-tomato plant would be amazing. you could totally grow stealth in your back yard with that shit. I'm gonna try that next season.

The last post seems reasonable because these fruits/plants would be growing in the same habitat. Obviously you won't have much success growing apples and bananas together. Johnny Apple seed planted from seed where others would find the sweetest apples and graph those branches on other small apple trees to maintain sweet genetics. Planting from seed, people would get sour, bitter luck of the draw apples.

Encryptor have you seen the movie Botany of Desire as well? That movie kicks ass. People interested in the effects of humans on plants should look into it. It's a watch instantly movie on netflix. They focus on four plants: tulips, apples, potatoes, and cannabis. They show how our strive for better taste, color, yield, and potency has evolved these plants into more than nature could have imagined. Are we using them or have they found a way to use us to further evolve them?

No way from the Michael Pollan book? Its a movie too? I have read his other book Omnivores dilemma but have yet to get to Botany of Desire.

i made a post about that after it aired. It's fucking amazing. I thought i knew a lot about the plant. that video really re-enforced my desire to work with this plant for the remainder of my life. Here's that link. the vids i posted no longer work though. feel free to bump the thread if you want to restart the conversation after you watch it. There are some torrents available for it. You can also buy a blu ray copy on the pbs store website. I think that is like $27 and the reg. dvd is 20$ or so. well worth the cost.
