Underwater grow

Ok so i had this crazy idea. I was watching dirty jobs and this guy was cleaning sea weed that grew extremely fast because of the clear water and how it magnified the intensity of the light and it got me thinking. I was curious if i placed say a slab of rockwool at the bottom of an aquarium, a few clones, then filled the aquarium with my nutrient mix say on at a 10th strength and placed an air stone in with a 150w hps right over the top could this maybe work? Maybe an all new method of growing. Just a stoned idea curious if anyone else has been stoned enough with the resources to try.

LOL Seeing as how plants need co2 I dont think an "air stone" will provide enough air.... Plus weed was not designed to be underwater it will probably rot. No your idea wont work. I'm sure for many more reasons than just the ones I listed as well.

There is only one way to find out.

^Sounds like you think there's a realistic possibility this would work. Why do you say that? This is just something I would have to presume it didn't work until proven to me. So someone's going to have to try it i guess. Not me though.

Nah, anything is possible I guess but I'm not gonna be the one to test it either.

this just popped in my head.
maybe "underwater" shouldnt actually mean in water but quite literally under it.
maybe a 6in layer of water between the plant and the light to "magnify" the light. ya know, in an aquarium that really long wide and flat suspended by chains.
hah, now that just might work...

you ever notice that the farther down you swim the darker it gets? It doesn't get lighter as you descend. I think you see where that's going.

I support creativy, especially with new grow ideas, but this underwater idea seems impossible for many reasons.

research aquaponics, not in the water but out of the water, usually fish swim in the water near the bottoms of the plants eating algae and the fish poop becomes nutrients for the plants, it's actually dated back to babylonian times they did this back then, there is a guy here where i live that has plants growing in a salmon pond, not weed but other food plants. he also owns and runs the local hydroponics store.
