micro grow from seed - ebb and flow, dwc, or both?

im going to sprout some seeds and do a very small run in a rubbermaid box (a la doubletub) with cfls. I wanna do hydro but im undecided on whether to throw 3 1/2" netpots of hydroton into a small custom ebb and flow table inside the box or make a small dwc system (single res). i can see advantages to both, but one thing is i am worried about putting fresh seedlings into a dwc. not sure why, but just intuitively seems like the bubbles wouldnt necessarily get air finely enough to such a small and immature root system and would drown the babies.... i'm going to be using hydroton from the start, unless someone has a reason to do otherwise.
what do you guys think? equipment is not an issue, i have all the parts necessary for both ways. i'm not shooting for huge yields, i mainly want to just finally flower out a grow and keep it inside the small area. i'll also be pollinating them a bit with some blue mystic pollen i saved from a grow i just chopped so that i have some beans for my next (larger) grow.

Go from ebb&flo to DWC because, it will drown them out. After that you should be fine with DWC. You have to switch them to low nutes in the dwc because ebb&flow doesn't get them used to constant nutes.

I would go ebb and flow because it requires much less space inside the container, in fact you could attach fittings directly to the lower rubbermaid and use it for the ebb & flow 'table'. I have used seedlings in DWC though multiple times with no ill results so that is still a viable option. Keep us posted!

its funny you say that, because thats exactly what i did! i used a 10 gal tub on the bottom, an 18 gal for the 'table' and routed the fittings through the bottom of one bin and the lid of the res.
with 188 watts of CFLs (4x 26w 6400k, 2x 42w 2700k) and 2 pc fans pulling air at the top, the lower part of the box stays 1 degree above ambient, and the upper part about 3 degrees above ambient.
