"Stealth" Grow Box
    #102405 - 08/04/08 01:32 PM (16 years, 4 months ago)

Has anyone experimented with any of these growing chambers, such as the PC Grow Box, Or The "Mini-Frig" grow box. These items seem a little short for growing bud, even if you prune, tie down, and what not. Has anyone ever tried these, or heard of anyone having success from one. I'm getting my own place here soon and I would like a nice system to save me some money...I have an expensive taste in marijuana and don't really enjoy middy's anymore. Not sure if this place will have a basement. If not does anyone have an suggestions for me?

Thanks

Here's my grow fridge that I use for clones and vegging.  It might give you some ideas....

thats and ebb and flow bucket system

the nutrients are coco nutrients

you could use coco as your medium... most don't in bucket systems afaik. usually clay pebbles.

okay what someone who isn't me has an outdoor grow and thats fairly simple and basic to do. then i wanted to try hydroponics and i just realized that i was so wrong about a majority of the things i thought.

but after doing a good bit of research (when I'm home that's all I'm doing)

i learned the different lights for veg. and flowering
the p.h. levels how to prune n "pinch the suckers" and tie down
what temp. and humidity they prefer the basic stuff

but i just realized after a couple posts here and why i originated the shroomery and i realized that I'm a little lost when it comes to hydroponics

i was told those lights are out of date and easy to be tracked and can sometimes interfere with the tv and other electronics.. if you guys could would you just gather some quick things into a nice grow system, for that "grow room" i had .. the dimensions were
39.5" x 39.5" x 78.75"

thanks...now it's time keep researching

Using metal halides for veg is pretty much redundant these days.  A good quality HPS is just fine for veging and flowering.

what about ceramic metal halides? they're supposed to produce less heat than hps and have a better spectrum than Metal halides.

You can also get them closer to your plants.

so you think if i was to go with a 400w Hortilux HPS Bulb that but be sufficient? for all stages of growth? they also offer a 430w, a 600w, and a 1000 watt...i was going to go with the 4" inline CanFan.

heres the set-up i want to go with http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/8731049/an/0/page/0

i have the latest "system" posted at the bottom what do you guys think?

The link to the extractor fan goes to the reflector as well.

I'd actually recommend a 600 watt ballast in place of the 400 watt one. 600 watt ballasts are more efficient in terms of converting watts to lumens, not to mention the fact that you'll have more light for the plants than with a 400 watt one anyways, and 600 watts would be optimal for that space. The 600 watt ballast isn't much more expensive, and going with it instead will pay off in dividends with your yield and potency.

I've never heard of magnetic ballasts being "tracked" by the police. Whoever told you that is more than likely a douchebag. Never heard of interference with electronic devices either. Magnetic ballasts work just fine and are quite cheaper. I'm sure digital ballasts are the next step, but don't believe everything the manufacturers are saying about 30% more lumens - that is bullshit.

You're going to need a carbon filter if smell is a security concern. Also, vegetating with metal halide is a great idea if you have a ballast that can fire up both MH and HPS, because the light spectrum is much more suited for vegetative growth than with HPS. While you could certainly vegetate underneath an HPS, you're going to have stretchier plants that take longer to mature underneath them.

i've been told that a good MH bulb can replace the HPS bulbs all togather.. i think i'm just gonna go with a 600wat ballast like u suggested and a Hortilux 600wat MH bulb?

will that be good?
