My grow box idea

Perpetual harvest is the game growbox is the name.
i propose a box with minimum dimensions
5w 2d 5h (width,depth,height) 5x2x5
the flowering room will be 4x2x5 to allow for 8 plants in flowering.
the veg room will be 1x2x5 This should be space enough for a mother plant as well as a space to have up to 4 clones vegging at a time.
if i take 2 clones every 2 weeks and veg for 3, then count on an 8 week flower period i have a pretty good perpetual harvest going on.
are there many 8 week strains?
is this approach feasible?
what type of light would be best?

I think a 400 or 600 watt HPS would be nice for the flowering area. I'd go with 600 watts if heat doesn't become an issue. Maybe you could get by with just CFL's for the vegetative area? You'd definitely want great ventilation to keep temperatures manageable in the flowering area. Your approach sounds feasible as long as the vegetative space is enough for that many plants (I don't have a good sense of plants/space yet).
Indicas and a lot of hybrids should have a flowering time of about eight weeks. Personally I'd put the clones in flowering as soon as they are rooted and simply take more clones, but its a matter of preference I'm sure.

600 watts seems a little excessive dont you think?
the area is only 8 square feet.
a 400 will have 50watts per sq foot i think that should be more than enough.
i am not lookig for any crazy yields, but more like constant flow of marijuana to smoke.
man if i can get an ounce off each plant i will be the happiest stoner alive!!

by the way i am also trying to keep my plant numbers limited to under 6 mature and under 12 immature. so if i kept cloning waiting to root and tossing it in the flower room i think i would go over.

I wouldn't necessarily think its excessive. The difference in price between a 400 watt setup and a 600 watt setup is very small from what I've seen, a $10 difference at HTGsupply for instance, and the 600 watt HPS is more efficient in converting watts to lumens. As long as heat isn't an issue, a well-ventilated cool-tube reflector would definitely make it not one, then I think it only makes sense to go with 600 watts, since it isn't really any more of an investment and the difference in yield will be greater.

I have a question, how much would that grow box cost on the utilities, because that size grow box seems perfect. like lets say my average bill is 200, what would i be looking at if i had a 400 or a 600

I think you'd be looking at about another $30 a month.

I'll try to answer, but my friend doesn't have any personal experience yet with CFL's. One thing you have to know is that wattage is a measure of how much energy a light uses. Lumens is how much light is being produced by the bulb.
From what I've gathered for vegetating, you're always going to want a base of at least 2000 lumens. One source I read said that you could successfully vegetate three to twelve plants for a few weeks on 4000 to 6000 lumens. You have a floor space of two square feet as your vegetative area, so I think if you started with 2000 lumens per square foot, you should be fine for your clones, and it might be necessary to add more light around your mother since she'll likely grow out a bit and positioning smaller lights around her to make sure nothing is in a shadow would be essential.
As far as how many lights with how many watts each you would need, it might depend on the brand (not sure), and I'm assuming that the package would list the lumens the bulb produces, but I found some basic information on this.
A 23 watt CFL should produce 1380 lumens. A 29 watt CFL would produce 1750 lumens. A 39 watt CFL would produce 2780 lumens. Not sure on the others at the moment, could look them up if you want me to do so, but I'd say throw in a 39 or a 43 watt for each square foot and that should work.
You'll want something like a 6500k daylight bulb for vegetating. Get them as close as you can to the plants without the plants burning, probably not closer than an inch or two. The bulbs need hung horizontally as well, not up and down.
Hope that helps, and also that someone with experience comes along to confirm or deny any of this.

i am going to make this box a reality this summer, then start the grow cycle when the heat of the summer subsides. its gonna be fun.
i think i will use 100W cfl for the flower room.
400W HPS for the flower room.
an exaust fan,
i cant decide whther building an ozone generator will be better than having a filter.

I think a 100 watt lamp will cover your required lumens, but it might be a better idea to have one bulb for each of your two square feet to ensure all of the plants get the light they need. The plants need to be a lot closer to the lamps with CFL's and this will help with that.

I'm assuming those prices are good for carbon scrubbers. Most of those are coming with an inline fan. I think if you're installing an exhaust fan, you might consider looking for a carbon filter that simply attaches to your fan and ventilation duct. The one my friend is looking at is around $75. Make sure to get one with an outlet the same as your exhaust fan. I think it is better to place the filter at the beginning of your exhaust system instead of behind the fan - more effective to pull air through it.
Here's a tek on making your own carbon filter.

this sounds similar to my setup that i just built in my closet. 1x2's for the frame costed about 15$ i used some old hinges and just used mylar for walls and gorilla taped it onto the wooden frame. its working exelent. is about 20"deep 48"tall and 40"wide (grow space anyways) its really 70" tall but my light hangs down about 10"(400w HPS)
my flower chamber isn't in there i was too lazy to make seperate rooms inside one. my dresser has 2 200w cfl's on a Y and it seems to do wonderful in the 12"deep 36"tall 36"wide area.
