Time to Harvest? (pics)

Hi All,
I was hoping to get a quick opinion as to whether or not I should be harvesting soon. These specimens were germinated back in April-ish, IIRC. They are not in a secure location, meaning that someone could easily raid my garden if they had the nerve, which weighs in my decision as to pull the plants sooner than later (i.e. they've made it this long w/o being stolen, should I take what I can get for sure?)
Here are some pics:

Have you picked any of this bud and tried it out? It wouldn't be the same as drying and curing properly, but would give you a good idea of its potency. If you're satisfied with the high you get, why not tug em out. I would take a close look at the trichomes to see if they are clear/cloudy or milky/amber. the high will go from heady to fullbody/couchlock as they develop, as i understand cannabis botany.

I've got a smallish bud drying as we speak... should be ready to test in a day or two, and I agree, what better way to know if it's ready than to actually sample it.
thanks for the feedback y'all!

The sample piece I collected earlier is dry enough (barely) to burn. Of course, it still has the unpleasant flavor of vegetation, but the underlying aroma of pine/skunk/etc is unmistakable. the high is relatively light with no couchlock in sight.
the sample i smoked, however, came from the 1 out of 4 plants grown in a container. It never grew well, and at this point, the majority of its leaves are yellowing and it seems pretty much spent and ready for harvest.
the other three plants still are quite dark green, though i am noticing that they are beginning to lighten in color these last few weeks.
the only thing i suppose is left to do is inspect rhe trichomes and look for the cloudiness/amber.
Since this is my first grow, some more questions...
Is it advisable to cease watering the product for any amount of time prior to the actual harvest?
Should I harvest the plant as a whole or 'liberally' snip off the branches (i.e. leaving little behind other than the main stalk and a few of its larger branch stubs)?
Drying - just hang 'em up in a closet with decent air circulation for as long as needed? Manicure the buds pre- or post-drying/curing?
Curing - is this recommended? I am planning on attempting to 'cure' the product, just wanted to be sure that I wasn't wasting my time. My plan was essentially to dry the product and then place it loosely into airtight containers (i.e. tupperware) and vent daily.
Thanks all for the help!

hang stalks upside down on a string in a room with %50-%60 relative humidity until the stems snap easily and doesn't bend.
then place in mason jars opening the jars and turning the buds a couple times daily for a month.
