When my plants go to the 12/12 cycle.
Do I still continue to water at night? currently I have it set for 30 min every 4 hrs.
or do I do it 30 min every 2 hrs and off for 12?
thanks

Sounds like you're using an ebb n flow? Most folks I know water approx. 4 times during lights on and once during lights off.

Sorry it's not ebb and flow but a drip head setup.
I may just add more on's during the flower on period.

i use hydroton with (top feed) and i have my pumps on for a half hour every hour (off or once at night) but their are different variations you could do like 15 on 90 min off 24/7,.....15mins on 1hour off, (off at night.) some people even run 24/7 but "it all depends what your using".....

the plants definitely will "eat" during the dark cycle if that's what you're curious about

I have nutrient solution and rockwool cubes. that's it.
what i am after is that i need to turn the water on and check them twice a day. right now I am using timers that spin like a clock and when I set up my 12/12 i will limit my waterings during the "dark" period and increase them during the light (will have 2x 1000w for 12hrs)
when i check on them... i spin the dial and get my times off. right now I have it set evenly, but that will change.
Any suggestions? let me know if anything is unclear about what I just said.
just sat down from work...

I use hydroton and top feed and I water for thirty minutes twice a day. I don't know if that's normal or not. I did it that way last grow and had good results. There's no need to water more than what is necessary. Personally i wouldn't change my feeding schedule. don't have any science to back that up other than the fact that the plants might have gotten used to waterings at a certain time and changing that may add stress to the plant. but those are just my inclinations about it.

Every two hours lights on.
Every 4 hours lights off has worked pretty well for me.

I didn't think mj plants needed to eat at night, as they are not absorbing CO2, they only do that when the lights are on.
Rockwool will stay wet for days. I know people that feed once a day. They say it builds the root system, a larger root system = larger plant. I don't really believe that though, I water 3 times during the day, never at night.

You sure about that? Anyone with more knowledge than I care to knock this one down?

Just from looking at the basics of photosynthesis it shows water is used in the light cycle only. SO from that it looks like water can't be used during the dark cycle.
With that being said I have had plants that got to dry during the day and I had to water them right before the night cycle started. They sucked in water for hours filling themselves up. That just tells me there is more complex process going on that allow the intake of water even during the night cycle. I'm going to read around and see if there's more truth to this than just my observation.

I believe they respire at night, using oxygen to break down the sugars they built during the day, for energy. So they may need nutrients for this process, but I am not sure. Not a biology buff.
