Building a flood table out of 2 kiddie pools

We had a drip hose system, but making a 36 hose system totally blows. so we just added a kiddie pool to the top and drilled some holes in it for relief.
Works like a charm! it floods nicely for 15 min then drains out.
you can move the cubes around however you like, unlike the drip head technique.

Lookin good! Did you just drill some holes or do you have a drain off at a certain height? Also do you have something rigged so it doesnt sound like there is obvious dripping water when it floods or did you not really need to care about that in your situation?

Well I don't know if you can see it or not, but there is a gutter at the bottom of the table.
The table was built to plumbing code for slope, so the water naturally runs downward (this was originally a drip head style table) Sounds similar to a water garden with about a 8" fall back into the reservoir.
(I suppose that you would be able to fashion in a gromet and fitting if you want to quiet it down. You can even add an overflow that falls into the same tube.)
Yes, I just drilled a few holes in the very bottom for complete drainage. then where the level I want it at, (about 4 inches) i drilled many holes.
so if it ever gets too high it will overflow to the higher holes.
Using a kiddy pool for a resevoir isn't the greatest thing, but does the trick for cheap. You loose the vertical space like normal drum style. sure does the trick.

I'm a total noob, so I hope you don't mind beginner questions.
I love your set up. Your plants are beautiful, and it looks very inexpensive.
I have been learning about various methods for growing, and for my first time I am considering hempy buckets.
I was wondering if this method would work with it. I am guessing you need a flood table for your seedlings that you start in a paper towel, then transfer to rockwool cubes (sorry if I spelled it wrong).
Am I on the right track here? Or is this a technique you use that is separate from the hempy bucket style?
Thanks

being a beginner, I recommend that you go ahead and do a run with the Hempy buckets before you move on to more advanced technique's. They really kick ass, it just gets a little tiring when hand watering 10+ 5gal buckets at a time.

Flood tables are easy. Wood, plastic liner, lava rock, and dixie cups.

yeah Magash... that's what I was planning on doing.
we had the kiddie pools, and just decided to use them. They worked great other than the fact that they were vegging for like 2 months due to my other table not being ready.
oh well. still kept them wet

I would imagine that a kiddie pool is just as good if not better then the method I used. Plastic liners rip and crap.
