new strain, same lights

3 times ive had successful growth using any mid-grade bagseeds i obtained over time.

Info:
i use 2, 4' fluorescent hangers that hold 2 40watt 4foot bulbs each
[x4 6500k bulbs for veg and x4 3500k for flower]

Comment:
i know most dont approve of floros, and if you do its probably compact [CFL] floros and not tubes, but i use tubes and get decent results with the midgrades.

Question:
i want to move on to better strains, will higher grade strains like northern lights/ak47/lowryder2 etc. be able to grow under these low-er grade lights, and even produce? or is it imperative i upgrade lighting?

In my opinion imperative that you get a hps/mh, however they will grow under a GOOD CFL setup with like a 200 watt bulb and good refelctor. Problem is, is that belive it or not, CFL lamps put out more heat than MH/HPS do...I recommend getting a 200 dollars hps setup and let it ride.

thats crazy, my tubes let off barely any heat, the plants just barely touch the lights at all times and do great.

my original question in basic terms is do different strains have different light strength requirements?

im hoping to find out if high grade plants do worse off under low grade lights, than low grade plants under low grade lights do. [confusing i know]

my low grade lights make these mid/low grade seedlings grow a little stringy and less bushy, but yeild just fine, im hoping to get that same "just fine" margin with the high grade under the same lighting and not less.

I think all you can do is try. All strains, no matter how good or bad, will produce better yields under better lights. But keep the flouro's for vegging. Youd be suprised how cheap decent lights can be, versus what extra they give you in a single harvest.
