Cloning the mothers
#233398 - 05/28/09 10:59 AM (15 years, 5 months ago )
Hi, We just took a bunch of cuttings, dipped them in root powder, and placed inside rock wool. Las night a few of em got scorched by the light. My question is... "does the light have to be very low to them?" i got it sitting damn close! A buddy's suggestion, but I would like a second opinion.

When there fresh cut and your waiting to root, they just need moderate light. Generally some cfl's 3-4 inches away is perfect. Also keeping them in a humidity dome is a must. Another thing i have found that helps is anti wilt spray. Remember that HID lights even at a normaly safe distance can burn new clones and seedlings easily.

I agree with Integra. Use fluorescent lights. Hey I bet they would do awesome in your greenhouse lol. I've always wanted to try that.

Thanks... we are using florescents. they must have touched the dome. maybee i'll try the greenhouse idea, but it's a bit big.

a bit overkill in the greenhouse. but couldn't hurt. Can you take cuttings and clone them if the pistils are comming out? it seems like they are in bud mode now.

Hey bro, I think the problem might be the anti wilting spray..... Or, Like others said, the scorching is probably due to the lack of Humidity Dome......

I would think it's the lack of the humidity dome. Thanks for all you input. (it almost not needed anymore... starting a new thread for my rant)
