1g = 5-10 for an average joe a 20 sack would be 1.5 - 2
an 1/8th changes prices year round fall = 25-30 (can be less...its basically a price war among dealers so sometimes free ) in summer = 40-45 (i never go past that unless im at a club)
an ounce goes for 150(pretty good- we never get schwag ever here) - 300 (dankest week ever)

These prices are for typical northern California dank, never really see anything else....Good quality buds, usually only handed down once or twice from the grower to the time it gets in my hands.

Wait, if a gram is $10, how can a 8th (3.5g) be $50? Speak with your dealer... You should be paying $50 for a 1/4oz. (7g.) Or at the very least 5g, and that is being stingy with price cuts. (You should pay less when buying more.)

In South Africa it's probably outdoor, not to mention it grows wild in that neck of the woods, and if he's quoting US prices think about the differences in the currencies.

Outdoor. Nobody uses lights here. It is not hard to grow high end mids, just get a bottle or two of fish emulsion ($3 a bottle.) and a couple of bags of soil. ($2 a bag.) And you can raise 30 plants easily, so, it costs like $10 + effort for a grow. And that can give you a couple of kilo's.
I grow myself and everything, (excluding pots, as they are a once off investment.) cost me about $20. That includes the best soil I could find, enough nutes to last me 2 years, and basically everything I need for a basic grow. The water bill is trivial, as I use 10 litres every 5 days (my soil holds water well.) and I drink more than that. One bath's worth of water will be enough for a whole grow, and the main cost of a bath tub of water is not the water, but the electricity needed to warm that water. So, with $20, I can easily grow 600g of high quality bud, it should cost less for high end mids, as that is grown in fields. (Using cuttings, so that they are all female and pollination doesn't occur.)
Oh yea, I would have to mention, $10 is the equivalent of R100 (100 rand, the rand is our currency.). To give you a little bit of an idea of what our money is worth, a bread is around R10, which is $1. How much do you pay for a bread?

dank eighth- there's a guy who sold the best weed i've ever smoked for 50 and eighth and 100 a quarter..but don't know what's up with him now...but pretty much 60 an eighth and 120 a quarter now
