I had a question about cooking with dried buds. I have prepared Cannabutter a couple times, one time directly inside a brownie batter (which was mix, then "baked") and once by simmering buds in melted butter on an electric stovetop, which the butter was later put into a herby and tasty Magical Mac & Cheese treat (very potent batch too!).
I have also heard of a technique where you boil budz in water with stick of butter, which the water is strained away somehow (with the green herb-garbage) and the butter is left.
My questions are: In terms of getting the most THC in the butter's fat, which technique works better: boiling in water + butter or simmer in just butter?
Has anyone done the boiling water + butter method before? If so, how did you get the water and herb-waste out of the final Cannabutter product?
Has anyone made magic brownies/cookies for a school potluck/project and got their fellow students stoned unknowingly?
Thanks mhbound! I had a feeling that the water + butter method was the superior way, but I never knew that it would take 22-24 HOURS on simmer to make! I'll have to try that sometime, when I have that kind of time.
I love eating cannabis edibles, but usually get them from friends. I've tried making edibles maybe three times, and only one batch was really successful. I either didn't use enough weed before, or my cannabutter skills need work.
