Im thinking of starting a hydro setup, but id rather have it outdoors, is this a possibility or would i need to use HPS lighting and an indoor setup?

You can definitely do hydro outside using the sun as light!  Its harder to conceal of course. But it can and is done.

I'd go with some kind of flood and drain setup.
