flowering
    #191812 - 02/03/09 07:22 AM (15 years, 10 months ago)

hey guys
i got 3 plants of feminized white widow (2 months old),
i changed the lights to 12\12 about 2 weeks ago (b4 was 18\6 ),
my question is,how Long b4 buds start to develop ?

the plants are small and bushy and grow under hps lights (400),
since i changed the lights i feed with bio-bizz bloom, b4 that i gave
bio-bizz grow.

thanks

It's not unusual that you don't see any flowers after 2 weeks of flowering. It depends on the genetics when they show the first signs. I think I already see some white pistils in your pics, not sure though. Give it a few more days.

Here is an image of the first signs of flowers:

One guys indica SSH plant I think it was took 4 weeks to show signs of flowering. Be patient. If the plants are healthy and the light is 12/12 then they will come.

Yes, that is normal. Just make sure your lights are on 12/12 and your grow space is dark. Flowers will come!

Very nice, now you have some flowers. I have never used the biobizz stuff, are you supposed to measure with the bottle cap like that?

How long into flower are you, about a month? At this point the mazar will not be growing very much vertically so if it isn't touching the top already, I would tie it down about an inch or so and leave it be. No use stressing plant now that the initial stretch is over.

thanks dr.
the cap is about 7-8 ml,for the bloom and the top max,
the mazar is not touching yet but in a day or two i will bend it a little and yes about a month into flowering,
so you think its another month or so?

top max won't hurt your plants if you go a little crazy with it.  It's just a bottle of humic acid, mostly kelp and seaweed IIRC.  I always fed max strength with it.  Love me some top max

couldn't tell you, don't know the nute line, it's strength, and the directions for plant care.  7-8 mls is almost 2 tsps which doesn't sound too far off.

That third shot is amazing. Keep it up! As for the mazar, I would tie them right down. Try to get the tops a bit closer to the light, but not close enough to burn them.

It depends on what kind of high you are after. Harvest when the trichomes are milky for an uppity high. Harvest when they start going from milky to amber if you are a couch lock kinda guy. I always harvest as soon as my trichomes start to turn amber, but not totally.

I enjoyed the pics btw.

Every time I open this thread I am amazed. Fantastic job with this grow.

When was the last time you fertilized the Hollands hope plant a couple posts up? (At the time of photographing it.)
The claw like leaves in the second pic could mean you gave them a bit too much.

As for when to harvest, your best bet is to go to radio-shack and buy a jewelers loop for 10$. With that you can inspect the trichomes to determine when to harvest. Here is a chart you can reference.

thanks allot guys,I'm excited too.

not sure when i fert the hollands hope last but i didn't since
because i fert it like i did with the rest of the girls and that was a mistake, but i think its fine now,and it smells very special, citrus like,i grew it b4 but only outdoors and it was amazing but  the aroma now is something else.

as for the white widow, just from what i can see with the naked eye
it looks like 40\60 now,and i have a feeling its time for two of the girls, should i flush?
can i cut just the big buds and try to get a second grow\harvest?

I would flush now, yes. And yes, you can just harvest what is ready and allow the rest to mature some. I've done it myself . Great job!

You just do it once. What I do is run the volume of the pot x 2 w/ distilled water. In other words, if its a 1 gal pot. I run 2 gal of water through it. Normally my flush is also my last watering. It helps speed up drying in my humid conditions by about a day.

Its obvious when it turns nice and milky. When it appears (with the naked eye) that the milkiness is going away, thats when they are turning amber. You should get a jewelers loop or a "insect" microscope that are available from many hydro vendors. They are both cheap.

Oh yeah it can take up to 8 weeks or more. Don't stress. Yeah, I would recommend letting the pot dry out a bit, and then hitting it with the nutes one more time.

Hey can you turn the growlight off for a sec. Turn the flash on you cam and try to get some closer, even macro, pics of the buds. I'm having trouble seeing the trichomes in the pics.

It would just help us to see exactly where you are at.

I love the nice even canopy, did you train them like that or top them at all?

If you have any organic nutes around, this would be the time to use them and flush again in about a week.  (Organics not required but some people think they help the taste a bit.) I made the mistake of flushing early a couple times and it delayed the maturation of my colas I believe.

As far as getting a nicely colored shot of plants under a HPS light, check to see if your camera has a custom white balance feature. If it does, you just take a picture of a white sheet of paper when its being lit by the hps, and set that picture as the custom white balance. Any pictures you take after that will be perfectly colored. Just remember to change it back when you're finished or else all your pictures will be tinted blue.

i took the pictures with my phone, this ones i took with my cybershot 5.1(also not that great).
i didn't train them but i rotated them on a daily base so they will get the same amount of light because its a little crowded there.
as for the nutes, the all grow is organic, thats what i use,

the moment the pots will dry a bit i will give a mix of bloom\topmax for the last time and than wash for a week.

here are some pictures

i forgot the shrooms outside all night when the fan was on the weed timer(off) and they got wet again from the humidity, almost dry again by now( hope i want forget again :ooo:)

thanks guys,you rule

OK so here are the girls after the cut,
i cut them about half the way,
should i feed grow\bloom again?

and here is the sweet cut

how long it takes until second harvest?

she smokes amazing,i cut the first buds when it was milky and i smoked maybe 3 tokes from the joint and was high for 4,5 hours, the first hour was so intense that i had to stand up,now when i smoke,i light the joint and inhale one more time and its good for me.
the fresh cut buds will be something else because trichomes now s 50\50 milky\amber.
i will let you know soon

thanks again for everything youall

You can find them at walmart. Usually they are over with the glass kitchen supplies.

You're not "Supposed" to harvest twice.  In all honesty it's a waste of time and money.  But you can do it.
