(for short) has 400w HPS ballast and the room is about 6'x6'x11' (11' tall) w/ a built in upper shelf, which will be the area swim will create for seedlings/clones.
Are you intending on using the whole space for the grow, and the concern you are having is with how you are going to ventilate the grow room because you can't cut the door or wall? I'm really tired right now so I'm not exactly sure, but that seems to be the jist of what's up.
Anyways, the point I'm getting to is that you're definitely not going to be able to use one 400 watt HPS for two square meters of space. I wouldn't recommend using any more than one square meter for a floor space underneath a 400 watt HPS. Considering this, I don't think you'll have to worry about how to ventilate or run power to the grow room because you'll have half of your closet empty.
Of course, eventually you might have a problem when you get addicted to growing and want to run more strains and you'll be ordering another 400 watt HPS for the other square meter (I'd actually recommend having a 600 watt HPS per square meter ), but you can worry about that later.

Definitely looking forward to your grow journal, man.
In the meantime, check this out, its what plants that are mostly about half-way through flowering look like when they are screaming extreme happiness in a setup with those exact specifications.
Here's one of the pictures for those lazy people that don't like to click things:

In fact, started the peat pods this morning. Only doing a set of 12 right now, weeding out the weak ones down to 6 and then out of the six whatever in females swim can get..... So, from what we have all gathered is that optimum spacing shouldn't exceed 4x4...
I'd say it shouldn't exceed 3x3, but either way, if you narrow out weak ones to six, you're running the liability of not having enough females to fill up your space. Maybe it'd be a better idea to cull the weaker ones when sex becomes apparent?

the ventilation is my biggest concern; ... should swim setup the vent on top w/ fan to take heat drawn upward by fan on floor & drawn out by fan on top??? its only logical thing swim can think of with things he already has... minus the vent grating ... that is a trip to lowe's
If you're asking if you should have an extractor fan that is pulling air from the top of the closet, then yeah, that's the way to go. You'll either need another fan pulling air in or a hole for air to come in at the bottom passively, and an oscillating fan to blow across the space between the canopy and the lamp would definitely be great, too.
Is the Ionic Pro a negative ion generator? I've heard of people using them for odor control, but I haven't really had confirmed how well they work... Supposed to be great for health reasons though.
