someone who isn't me is looking to setup they're closet for grow room power. . . It's already a flat white (from what i've heard) and 's.w.i.m.' (for short) has 400w HPS ballast and the room is about 6'x6'x11' (11' tall) w/ a built in upper shelf, which will be the area swim will create for seedlings/clones.
Can someone suggest swim some ideas, swim doesnt think there's enough room for a scrog but believes can get max potential 6 beautiful femmes w. 400hps and good light distribution.
SWIM biggest problem before was battling heat, as not owner of property for swim to tinker with, heat stress caused severity of males, all, in fact. And, some may think swim was rash to judge, but no, SWIM gave plenty of time. Thinking of making a hole above the door frame to allow for vent & just drill a board onto and spackle later... that's all maintenance would do anyway, right? haha.
SWIM also has Martha-Stewart Fruit Chamber for his shroomies inside closet. Swim Thinks could partition portion off in back w/ pvc pipe to make screen w/ painters cloth over to hide light & mylar the exposed walls of the grow room.
Any closet-op success stories Swim could learn from? SWIM learns well from the stories of others.
that's cool. The ballast swims light unit is actually attached as one unit. Compact & efficient, just kind of... annoying in a sense too. swim don't feel he'd be able to use the entire area of the closet w/ the light unit, but swim can make at least 6 plants fit where he need, doing a maximum of 8.
Should swim get a large peice of particle board (or peg board) and make a partition ? the heat swim would just have to get a tiny fan put on shelf and just finagle air movement; swim found out a secret board drilled into his room leads underneath the bath tub which swim can cut a small peice out of the closet to allow venting through that area w/ a computer fan or, a fan in general allowing air to circulate. Swim wonders if the "inside of the wall" goes to his neighbors above though...
swims thinking about just saying f' it and adding a vent above the door w two fans, one he has already that is round and blows upwards, and then a small oscillating fan on a top shelf ot move the heat outside the room. . . . . . .
just put some cardboard up on the hole, screw into it to hold it in place then spackle it and all is good and new... lol swim might get by, seriously, who pushes random drywall above a door frame to see if it is soft ?? haa
600w per square meter? The plants would scream extreme hapiness i'm sure!! though seems overpowered to me., Just wait till swim starts a grow journal, swim'll show you sirius something serious
Even include swims final plans for the grow spot, get some comments/suggestions for optimal performance! haa
In fact, started the peat pods this morning. Only doing a set of 12 right now, weeding out the weak ones down to 6 and then out of the six whatever in females swim can get. bag seed . . . looked online, lots of places want $50usd for 10 seeds, a little pricey this time... if swim could get some decent bud crop (wont be fantastic like Cannabis Cup winners) and that is goal. Bet could come out with what these seeds should have been, and if swim remembers this was the better of the green has been getting in recent months... then again, things are a bit fuzzy.
So, from what we have all gathered is that optimum spacing shouldn't exceed 4x4...
still leaves room for that mushie flushy, has anyone ever seen the martha-stewart tek? Not sure if swim would have to endure what shroomjew did; its a micro ecosystem of sorts; It would be easy for me to transfer oxygen from a separate room into the pump feeding air into the closet m.s. closet.
Would just turn light on for mushies when light was on for MJ as to not disturb flowering in lieu of flushing
the ventilation is my biggest concern; ... should swim setup the vent on top w/ fan to take heat drawn upward by fan on floor & drawn out by fan on top??? its only logical thing swim can think of with things he already has... minus the vent grating ... that is a trip to lowe's
before swim just left the door open a bit, couldnt control room temprature... swim wanting more control and wants to stop having to purchase for self-supply
This is what I'm kind of thinking . . . the mylar is part of a screen i am going to be constructing to keep unwanted light out and to be able to throw up some mylar
i have a shelf across the top which can't be picture on mspaint but i can probably get a small $15 fan from wally world that would push the heat from the top of the room out through the vent...
Nah not really concerned about smell. if it becomes too aromatic swim'll figure it out then but swim Think he can keep the smell contained in the two rooms. Plus, all his guests are connoisseurs and wouldn't mind it, but this isn't something swim wants to publicly propagate obviously.

swim have a fan that only blows upwards it is how swim kept it 'cool' before but the room would still be warm, but it was keeping the light unit from overheating. It gathers from around itself and blows upwards, it's really an anti-allergy huge hepa filter fan. So with the fan blowing upwards and a small one near the vent to blow out, i think it would keep the room in a good position w/ the hot air rising then being blown out the vent.. w/o going and getting expensive equipment.

swim think if he make this setup a DWC setup swim can have 3 tubs together w/ 2 plants per tub and a reservoir w/ room, all linked together.... Probably will have plants only reach 4.5-5.5 feet max... unless they feel to grow otherwise growth would be limited by stretching though for sure...
Do you have suggestions as to what can do to help w/ the smell when that time comes? We all know charcoal canisters do the trick, but lets talk poor here!!! Could swim get an a/c filter that helps w/ controlling smells (do they exist?) would an ionic pro positively charge the electrons & pull'em in and zap'em like the commercial says??? lol
yeah something like that, it does something where dust & stuff that causes allergies gets drawn to and gets stuck on a metal grid you clean like once a week... lol
