Preliminary grow box idea

Here is a preliminary view of my my grow box idea.
I'm thinking gypsum board with an pine exoframe. That will let let me install all my electrical equipment internaly with the hope that any potential fire might be contained. This representation shows buckets as my media container, but I hope to eventually upgrade to a D.I.Y. 4x5 aeroponics setup complete with reservoir. Climate controls to be conjured up later Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome.

It looks like you're getting ambitious. How many plants are you planning on fitting in that space?
I'd recommend bumping those lights up to 600 watt, if you don't already have 400 watt ballasts that you intend on using. The price difference between the two is pretty slim, and the pay-off is more than worth it, since not only do you get 200 more watts, but the 600 watt setups are more energy to lumen efficient.
Ahh, that is, unless you're the one with the CMH. In that case, I'd stick with that. Have you been running it at all? Maybe a CMH on one side and an HPS on the other side would be a good idea, if you could move the plants back and forth occasionally.....

Ambitious, sometimes I times I think maybe to ambitious. As far as the number of plants I was thinking 1/Ft2(20) if I'm able to get a hydro setup working. Until then I want to keep it at about 8 plants until I get grip on what I'm doing. The 400w lights represent my desire to get a ceramic MH setup working and so far 400 is the limit. Right now I have two 400w MH ballasts and one 400w HPS (some assembly required) and no more cash to experiment with.

drywall is not the best with water damage, so be careful if you must, dont screw your lights or anything to it.....it doesn't much of anything heavy. i would also use plywood for the bottom, cause once the dry wall gets wet it will be very easy for something (ie heavy pots)to make their way through it.
you basic design looks very similar to mine, except that mine is not as deep and therefor only has 1 row of plants, also only 60in wide so i only put 3 in you can take a boo at my growlog and see if its similar or not

not good for canada lol.
but i think he was worried about fire, and drywall is fire resistant, which is good for fire safety, but seems not so good for box construction.....that said if you built a good frame it can probably be done on the walls/top. just careful you dont hang your lights/vents from it....screw to the frame
