Check out my Grow Box design :D

This is the basic framework design for my grow box. I will wrap it up in ply wood.
A question poped up in my mind today, i will equip this grow box with 250 W light + filter fan: how should i go about cutting a CIRCLE for the fan in ply wood?
I guess i could panch / drill holes and then kick a circle out and then fine tune it with sand paper?
I will begin construction of this grow box hopefully soon

Another question: I should have 250W light in there, is HPS will be allright for veg growth?
Sometimes they have 400 HPS wiith soome BLUE spectrum added in there i dont think i have space for 400W so it will be 250W HPS RED ONLY. Is it going to be alright?

how should i go about cutting a CIRCLE for the fan in ply wood? Jigsaw works perfect, but drilling holes also works if you don't have a jigsaw.
is HPS will be allright for veg growth? Yes. Maybe not the best, but works perfectly fine!
Good luck with building your box and keep us updated!

I wouldn't really say that four feet is tall, unless you meant a length of four feet and didn't say what the height was. Also, if your floor space is 4 feet by 3 feet, I don't think a 250 watt HPS will be enough light.

What is the width of your room? I didn't say it wouldn't necessarily be enough height, but simply stated four feet isn't what could be referred to in any sense as "tall".

I'm not so sure about that. It really depends on the plants and how long you veg, but don't forget that the roots and lamp/reflector also need some space. And that you can't put the lamp right on top of the tops.
Will you go with hydro or soil? Is it possible to make it taller?

Four feet is feasible if you tie them down heavily and don't allow any veg growth higher than a foot from the floor INCLUDING the pot. You may still have to tie some of the colas down but can be made to work. making the grow space 18 inches taller would be a far better idea though.

Do you plan on using a different box for flowering? Is there any reason why you can't use fluorescents?

Just keep a good 2 feet between the top of the plant and the HPS, and you should do fine. But I'd recommend Fluo lights for the vegging. If the temp gets to 80 or above your plants will die.
what do you plan on putting on the walls?

While anything over 80 degrees Fahrenheit starts to become less and less optimal, I think anything up to 95 degrees should be workable; at the very least, they won't actually die at anything less than that. Optimally you wouldn't want anything beyond 85, possibly 90 degrees. With higher temperatures you'd want more attention to CO2 levels and watering. Its the temperature of the roots which is the real concern, I would think. You've got to remember that a lot of cannabis thrives in regions along the Equator, and you'll certainly find temperatures beyond 90-95 degrees there (as well as increased CO2 levels to help offset).

Yes, most certainly go for five feet, and beyond if five feet is only an arbitrary limitation. You can help lower the distance you can keep the HPS from the canopy of your plants by using a cool-tube reflector that has adequate ventilation through it, as well as having a regular fan blowing on the canopy.
