Anybody make their own edibles?

I've been playing around with tinctures since they legalized medical marijuana in my state, and I have noticed something ... odd.

When I make a Sativa tincture and use it sublingually, it has the typical energetic effect that Sativas are known for.

However, if I consume it as an edible, the energetic aspect is no longer there and there is a slight couch-lock effect to the dose.

Not enough that I fight sleep like a strong Indica, but it is not the speedy high that using it sublingually does.

The same thing happens when I make an Indica tincture.

Used sublingually it has a strong couch-lock effect, when consumed in an edible the couch-lock effect is gone and there is a slight energetic effect instead.

Has anyone else noticed this?

I tried taking sublingual LSD a few times and it never hit.
I'd like to try Cannabis Tincture. Is it in alcohol?

Yeah, it's an alcohol tincture.

They are fairly easy to make provided you have access to an oven, and a freezer and can get some PGA, not vodka or ISO. Vodka takes way too long and doesn't do as good a job and ISO is toxic. Pure Grain Alcohol or any 190-Proof Denatured Alcohol.

Here is a link to the tek I use.

I like the freezer tek because I avoid all the sticky chlorophyll that gets extracted at room temperature. Think of freezing as a way to lock the chlorophyll inside the cell so it can't get extracted.

All the cannabinoids I want are stuck on the outside of the cell walls so they aren't locked out :wink:

Whatever they have on sale at the dispensary.

I can get ounces of shake for $50. Sometimes they have half ounces for $30 but I use the shake for my edibles and buy flower to put in my Extreme-Q vaporizer.

The medical herb in Arkansas is shit.
They have regulated out all the CBD so it's just high THC strains.

In other words, bullshit herb.

I have to buy hemp flower from Oregon to add some CBD to my medical herb.

It's nice to be able to grow your own.
That was my favorite Ganja was the flowers I grew myself.
I'm in Washington State. We can't cultivate.
My stepmom says everyone just buys on the black market because it's cheaper.

Sublingual absorption is mostly delta-9 THC, whereas when swallowed, liver enzymes convert the delta-9 into 11-hydroxy THC, which has a stronger binding affinity for cannabinoid receptors.

I used to make RSO from time to time with homegrown flower, the stuff I made from CBD hemp sure seemed to help with my dog's arthritis. I want to get back into it soon, might start juicing fan leaves again as well.

A dry herb vaporizer (not a vape pen or cart) gives the same effects (if used properly) as smoking*, you use less flower*, do less harm to your lungs*, and can use the vaped herb to make some nice bedtime edibles*.

Win-win-win-win over burning.

Anyone still burning their herb is either a dinosaur or ignorant of how to properly use a dry herb vaporizer. :shrug:

Does the vaporizer unlock the full experience of the herb?

I grew up smoking Ganja and Hashish with my mom in the Hollywood Hills. She sold Ganja and Hashish and ran a party house.
I used to have a gravity bong on top of one of my speakers and man did I cough!
It's the cough that gets you off!

Yes, you can cough using a vaporizer ... or you can hit it light enough not to cough ... kinda like smoking.

Coughing has nothing to do with the effects of cannabis.
