I went outside and did outside things yesterday. Hung out on a mountain, ate cashews and took a nap on the summit.
Anyone else do outside things recently? I'm going to try to do some sort of walk/hike 4-5 days a week, picked up some new snowshoes and winter gear so looking forward to the snow as well

I went for a quick snorkel in the ocean today and found an Abalone so i ate it for lunch. Being outside is the best.

Where do you live that it’s warm enough to snorkel still? I camped out last night and it got down to 32 degrees

I want to desperately get into more of an outdoors life as well.

You should buy some new gear. I've been pretty lazy but after spending some money on a new pack and boots I almost feel obligated to get out there more now lol
I've still never won the ban lotto even though I've been in it every week for months. I have a bunch of free time lately so figured I'd sign up here, I think I had an account here a decade ago but I can't remember my username

Here is the outside near me (I live out in the country and tis is a small country road on the way to my house)

Nice, that area looks cool. Mostly private land in your area or public?
The weather is shit here today, 50's and hella rainy. Trails are mud pits. I'm still gonna suck it up and do a few miles in a conservation area near me that I haven't been to yet. The good part about bad weather is the trails will be empty

Private as hell.....but everyone pretty much knows everyone in the area and is cool, I go down to the creek all the time to fish

Wow, around here pretty much all private land gets posted with no trespassing signs. That's cool people there are laid back about it
Got out for a couple hours, had like 20 miles of trails to myself. Pretty cool area

There were turkey tail everywhere, we don't really get any fun mushrooms in this area though that I know of

I bought some new gear like two years ago and only camped legitimately once during that time. Pathetic on my part. I vow in 2022 to camp and hike (and just be outdoors more in general) much, much more.

I'm going to do my first winter trip this year. Planning to cross country ski in and camp on this remote lake if it's frozen enough, have a fire and sleep under stars.

Gotta create the swimming hole somehow
If you build a small base with snowpack and frozen logs the ice won't ever heat up though. Definitely an unnerving feeling, but pretty safe if done right.
A guy down the street from me used to drive a truck out on the pond next to his house to plow it for a skating/hockey area, I used to get a little freaked out just watching that. Idk if it even gets cold enough here for that anymore

The tall one in the middle is Mt Washington, known for having the worst weather in the world. Things change on a dime up there, people die fairly frequently. I had close call a couple years ago and luckily I learned to plan and prepare better.
Even in the summer every time I pop out of tree line and see this sign my heart starts pumping a little faster
