While I agree that hot solvents usually work better than cold solvents, microwaving volatile and flammable solvents is not recommended at all. Microwaves are notorious for unevenly heating substances, and have much higher chance of combining unpredictable heating and vapor generation with sparks. Not to mention the higher exposure risk to the operator from more fume generation in what I assume would be an indoor kitchen.
A hot plate or heating mantle would be a way to improve the safety of this method.
And just to be clear, adding salt to cold iso and shaking the shit out of it like you described works extremely well. Back in my days of shitty glass maintenance, I cleaned off 6 months of daily smoking grime from a rather complicated bong with several corkscrew diffusers in a matter of inches using this method.
Either way, as long as you're being careful, you're method sounds as good or better as any other of the silly methods I was reading over in that shroomery thread.

Back when I used to smoke resin from pipes, I'd freeze the pipe and scrape with a paperclip. The resin becomes really brittle and will easily flake off the inside of the pipe without sticking to everything
