FYI America has the most people in jail in the world at over 2 million and even when you look at it from a per capita level America still has the most people in jail. More then any communist nation or dictatorship yet you guys sing land of the free and chant USA is number one but you are right America is number one at putting people who use drugs in jail. Yup the US is so much better off now. Since Jan. Gas prices are up over a dollar a gallon, Lumber prices are up over 200% last year's. All items in stores will soon rise cause cost of transporting has risen. And if min wage goes to 15 an hour without some kind of profit gains tax to protect against inflation we'll soon be a poor broke third world nation.

I heard there is 50% more money in circulation since Covid. I also heard the Federal Reserve Bank owns 1/3 of all US mortgages. They also bought all the securities stocks and bonds no one wants. I heard Ford has junk bonds now. The market was illiquid for a little bit in early Covid. No one wanted to buy that shit. The stock market stopped grooving with the economy when Covid hit.

Current lumber and fuel prices in the US are primarily driven by the previous year of global pandemic. Both sawmills and crude oil exporters limited their production due to an expected housing construction and fossil fuel demand slump from the pandemic, respectively.
The lumber market went the way of the semiconductor sector, with actual demand exceeding expected demand, and the interia of the supply chain makes spin-up incredibly slow, limiting supply, hence the increased cost.
The crude oil demand has increased faster than expected as the world begins to vaccinate and recover from the slump of the pandemic, OPEC has been slow to respond, and this time of year is typically when most US oil refineries shutdown for maintenance and to spin up for the summer blends of gasoline and agricultural fuels. All of this has resulted in a high demand-to-supply ratio, hence the higher gas prices.

I feel like it might be a reach to blame either administration for the gas and lumber prices when there's a clear link to decisions being made within the industry (and worldwide) that resulted in the supply/demand gaps we are experiencing right now.
Those industries shot themselves in the foot trying to avoid overhead costs and a glut of supply. We should blame Trump for what trump can be blamed for, and hold Biden accountable for being a little bitch about federal legalization of cannabis, but lumber and gas prices are an unrelated issue to either.
