Just got pretty baked and had a thought.
I'm still digging into it, but I came across something that said that the moon has about 15% LUX as the sun at most.
If plants were never introduced to complete darkness during the lighting cycle, would say, 10% power at night have any benefits, in theory?
Say you're running 1 1000w HPS, and you had a 100w on flipped schedules, would the plant benefit from having more energy then it typically would?
One post in particular that sticks out in my mind mentioned light leaks and hermies. The user said something to the effect of plants being so sensitive to even a small amount of light leaking in during the night cycle, because we're conditioning them to anticipate complete darkness. If we only ever let it get down to 100w that wouldn't be the case, so in my stoned brain, wouldn't this potentially eliminate the risk of hermies due to leaks for the most part?
I guess eeking out an extra 600w over the course of a night cycle isn't much, but it certainly adds up.

Lowering your light from 1000w to 100w for 12 hours would do nothing, they wouldn't even start to flower.

A total waste, it's a rest period for the plant to produce flower hormones.
