We have a 3 day 2 night hunting trip and see will need her own rifle. I might even get a new one myself. I have a 30/30 which has some balls, but firing can be a pain.
You have to load the round, slowly cock the lever back until you hear a click, then slowly release it forward. Once seated you can fire. Thing is, if you fuck up and release the lever to quickly it will fire. It can be pretty dangerous.

I shot my first deer with a Winchester 30/30. My buddy recently picked up a Savage Axis .270, it shoots nice after it's sighted in.

I was looking at the Savage, but my dad suggested a .243.

My favorite rifle I ever owned was a Weatherby .300 magnum.
I get a hard on thinking about shooting that fucker.
