Transition from t5 to 1000w hps

I've been vegging under T5 for the last 7 weeks. My plants are doing well and are healthy. I will be moving them into the flower room. I am running 1000 watt non dimmable lights. I can't dim them because I'm running older model ballast that don't have that option. My question is how do I reduce or eliminate burning of leaves from such a huge transition from 200 watt fluorescent lights to 1000 watt HPS lights. From what I understand and from what I've experienced in the past, people recommend dimming the wattage on the ballasts and slowly bringing up the power from 400 to 600 and then finally 1000 Watts. But since this isn't an option, what do you guys recommend I do? My plants are in 5 gallon pots and I'm running a coco peat moss bag mix I bought at the hydro store. I added 1 gallon of perlite per bag used. Really good drainage is crucial. I'm also running the standard micro, grow, bloom from General Hydro. I added silica, Cal Mag, and vitamin B1 to the vegetation nutrient mix. I keep my ppm's at between 720 and 980, and every third watering I give them straight water.

Raise the lights as high as you can. I haven't had any issues going from fluoros to 1000w hps.
